but there are no improvements to xbl and they're putting more ads than there used to be on it.
plus the xbl did go down for 2 weeks back in 2007 and microsoft never said anything about it.

SS or it didn't happen
But they have improved it drastically. More friendly interface, acess to FB/Twitter/Netflix/Zune Marketplace/Sports Center/Inside Xbox for weekly updates on incoming games/ and much more. Oh boohoo advertisements in the background only there when I actually scroll through them. SO MANY ADDS OMG OMG OMG. Lol get used to it, eventually ads are going to be on the side walks, on benches, in the books you're reading. EVERYWHERE and then guess what, you'll own your own buisness someday and need to advertise to make money. And when you're raking in the cash you'll be gald of it.
You can't escape the system, especially if you plan on doing anything with your life. I sure as Hell want to become sucessful. (Not at any cost) but hey I want to make money to support a family, or be able to support a family when I have one. Just how the world works.

Erm, I don't actually think that either online service actually needs any improvements, they're fine as they are.
And I've never heard of Microsoft making any improvements to XBL besides ****ing facebook access or whatever. I don't give a **** about facebook on my xbox, if I wanted to go on it I'd use a PC/laptop. Also, the PS3 actually has an internet browser capability for that sort of thing (granted it's a ****ty browser, but at least I can go to gamefaqs if I get stuck on something without having to go downstairs and turn things off/on).
I pretty much hate humanity and the way the world works, so yeah :P.

Lol with an attitude like that you can't even change someone's mind. Let me reiterate try to make a difference or quit crying about it. If you don't attempt to change the world then why on earth do you have any right to complain about it? Oh I live here but rather than trying to make a difference I'm just going to complain about it. You see something you want to change try, rather than sulk about . But that's a different can of worms.

PSN has yet to be hacked and knocked off line for 3 months+...OH WAIT!!!
I doubt XBL would fare any better against the same threat/enemy/hacker(s).

There some sort of jaded belief that free is always better, it's not. Nothing in life is free and anything that is isn't as good as the competition you have to pay a little extra for.
That can be debated. There are many cases where that's not true. Just look at microsoft's ****ty operating systems and compare them to linux. Microsoft doesn't hold a candle to Ubuntu and the moment most games start getting developed for linux (I think the graphic program is called openGL) I'm switching instantly.

And I'll defend it if I want. People are too complacent and unaware of the fact that buisnesses are still in buisness because they make money. Or if you're not unaware of that then you're as I said "jaded". The US is full of ads on TV offering goods or services for miniscule prices claiming to provide the same exact result as a higher end product for less money. Get back to reality folks, we've been spoon fed that idea since birth, and apparently some people are gullable enough to believe it. That's why a lot of people buy what they see on TV for less and when they get it, guess what, it doesn't work.
Where is the incentive for Sony to improve upon ANYTHING for their PSN if they ask for no upfront cash? It's business 101:
A company makes improvements to their products/services when there is an incentive to do so.
You pay 5 dollars for a decent pizza, and suggest to the person behind the counter to try adding an additional spice to their pizza sauce. The next time you come in they listended to your suggestion and offer you their new pizza which is now 5.50 dollars. You try it and enjoy it, the additional 50 cents was clearly worth it. If you went to some new pizza parlor where they serve the pizzas for free you find their pizzas to be decent like the other place, you make a similar suggestion about a new spice, the next time you come back they're still serving the exact same pizzas they were and didn't listen to you...Where is their incentive to improve when they can offer a similar quality of pizza but make no profit on it? The cost of the improvement is greater than the amount that can be generated at the current rate ergo it's not worth it.
Where is Sony's obligation (I ask again) to provide you with any improvements when the current service is working and it's users have little to no investment in it?
Providing a "free" service to you guys means that any issues or problems that arise that could result in legal backlash really have no weight. You signed up for a free service and your expectations didn't meet up with the reality. They aren't obligated to provide you with any additonal quality or security because there is no incentive when the cost of the improvement outweighs the current operating cost.
Maybe this is all rhetoric to you guys. To me it's the reality of it all, I gladly pay for the service afforded me by Microsoft and I have yet to be disappointed.
