Talon's kinda meh IMO, if you keep him suppressed he can't do anything and his early game isn't that great. And his only escape mechanism is his ult, which while having a low cooldown, is kinda stupid to use as an escape. Most assassin's have some way of getting out or saving themselves after they secure the kill, he doesn't (Akali has smoke bomb and dash, eve and twitch have stealth, shaco and kassadin have blink, etc.). His passive's bad too.

Personally I love Talon and he can wreck some real havoc. Currently my two favorite builds are a tanky FM build and a trinity burst build. After seeing the MS trinity gives and it's general utility I've actually started to like it on him. I've actually done really well solo top and I think he's very strong overall.

Thanks to The Nameless Bard and Vavena for the sigs!

He's good in bot, he out deeps the heals of the new weak sustain lanes if he can land rake on both champions.

A few well placed rakes around level 6-9, to poke down your enemies, and it's death. :P

Talon is s snowball champion, along with any other successful assassin champion. He's decent in lane depending on who he is laning against.
Please don't be fooled by videos from phreak and colbycheese.

I can tell you that any champion with hard CC will destroy Talon in lane (solo). Take renekton for example, seriously that mofo is the anti Talon solo top.

Hard CC is talon's weakness since after his ult, his escape routes are limited. (aside from flash and cleanse which i consider a must for talon)

Just for clarification:
I created this Thread because I saw some really good Talons in ranked games(My ELO is around ~1,6k atm) and see him in ~70% of the games at the moment, and he seems to have some really good carry potential. That made me think about him since I've barely ever seen him ~two weeks ago. Not because of Colbycheeze's video.

@ Jun: Kog'Maw is either banned or picked every single game on west, thus FotM. Kassadin is not banned every single game, but he's the #1 AP pick after Morg atm.

Yeah, one thing Dice mentioned is true:
EU is not really used to champs like Akali or Talon, but Talon is not relying on his invis to stay alive in most cases, but on his ult to deal damage.
He's not as vulnerable in fights as he looks like, he can assassinate targets that are out of position and sneak around the fight to instant-burst the enemy's Carry(s)´from full hp after most CC has been blown. If he's getting chased, you can AoE slow your enemies and deal alot of dmg to them, it's ike chasing singed.

Also, he really HARD counters AP's in mid.
Playing against Brand? NP Talon is here! Combo him as often as you want pre 6, zone him or kill him and kill him in one burst at lvl 6 with brutalizer from full hp!
His silence, mobility and high physical damage output makes it hard to trade damage with him since Talon will most likely start with Boots and be pretty mobile.

If someone owns him, try him mid and tell me what you think! :D

Hmm.. Nah, but Kass is up there with Brand now.
Kog'Maw is the second best AD carry right now. Caitlyn and Kog are both better than pretty much all the other AD carries. Cait is according to SYDTKO the best AD carry right now and I think I agree.
I'm surprised I don't see many Cait bans tho.

I wanna try facing Talon in mid. With Brand and Anivia. And maybe Gragas. And maybe Urgot, but I'm pretty sure he'll lose against Urgot.

Champions that rely on skillshots will generally be on the backfoot against Talon (boots + 3 health pots =/= damage lol). Exception would be Urgot, since he has ridiculous poking power. Possibly Gragas.

Solo top situations, irelia and renekton come to mind immediately.

Assassin champions are pretty similar. They have a weak early game, just zone them out from everything you can and play aggressively, don't let them have free harass at you. Just CC them down from mid game onward, people say they build Talon 'tanky' but the reality is that if Talon is doing enough damage to trouble your team then he's squishy.

Of course a good player will be able to work around this and harness the amazing burst on offer. Talon is ok, and could be viable in some situations, for all the reasons mentioned by the OP.

Talon's a great assassin. Many high elo players are recognizing his potential.
Talon excels in any lane, whether top bot mid, or maybe even jungle. It'll be hard to determine a team comp with Talon inside, though generally he'll go top.

And @ Searz: A well played Talon will counter MOST AP mid hard. Get in range of his silence and get ready for some massive deeps. :3
