IMO, what champ you want to tank with depends with your team comp. for example, i've been on teams with 5 tanks. easy win, too much cc for the other team. i've also won games with 5 ranged carries, although that's rougher. but if you want hard aoe cc, go for amumu. his ult is one of the worst out there. he's also more towards the off-tank spectrum. if you want a rangedish champ, one that can poke well, try cho. IMO, he isn't a tank, but i've heard enough respected people say he can be that i'll leave it at that. alistar is a tower taker, pusher, and has a small aoe stun and can mess up the positioning of 1 person at a time. rammus can initiate well, take towers, and have a team presence. he's best at countering an ad champ. there's my say on champs (sorry, i think rammus is 3500)
