If you wanna do full-combo just get within W range FIRST, throw sapling and IMMEDIATELY W in afterwards. You can Q to make sure that your sapling bomb's secondary damage is not flashed if you like :)
Otherwise honestly most skill orders work on Maokai.
I'll often times just activate and deactivate ult for harass in lane as well and use ult to farm/push lanes fast when my opponents base to deny EXP.
