Yi is kind of an awesome ganker. He can be cruel in lane but does not work good in the present meta. I love the guy still!

A team formed up around a good jungle Yi can be meta breaking. Atmogs on him is stupid good hes just VERY item dependent when it comes to fights. I think hes rolling into the sleeper OP bin because they havn't touched him in so long. Needs more exploring.

Honestly Yi is useless to me honestly...

Your team can afford to 4v5 teamfights, while Yi is backdooring because thats the only reason to pick him up honestly. But hey that is just my two cents.

Yi is an awesome champion, pretty recommended for beginners. He kills everything with amazing speed, so backdooring is easy (hes the best at it now that TF cant teleport (he can, but its useless now)).
The bad part is that he's not a taem fighter, like some other melee AD (Jax, Trynda).

Except he gets countered by people with steriods stronger than his i.e. Lee Sin, Nocturne, Gangplank. Basically all the current top junglers.
And thats his problem.
Ideally he also needs to enemy jungler to start from blue so he can counter jungle easily but again the doesn't happen often making his life even more difficult.
If you build him with quite a bit of armourpen he is quite scary, but he is actually really difficult to play and requires you to learn timing and to watch for stuns and ultimates etc.

Actually, Yi is pretty good at teamfights. He is an carry an can clean up very fast. You only have to know WHEN to go in and WHERE to go in. You should be focusing an enemy carry without a high risk to be cced. You could even come in from behind for this. Other than that, "Final" Atmog's Yi gives you enough survival.
And finally, he can counterjungle really well. His high damage can just wipe out the enemy jungler earlygame. But for that, you need to know everything about the opponent jungler.
