I'd say his laning is pretty weak, he doesn't really provide anything in particular for a team other than an extra body. I suppose you could say that he is good at pushing, backdooring, and what not, but there are a lot of champions that do that well and have more utility in the game.
He's decently strong out of the jungle, especially with his ult and a red buff, can pretty much guarantee a kill if the enemy is overextended. However, without red buff, and if the lane you are ganking doesn't really have strong CC, he pretty much is powerless to stop them from just running away. What makes this even worse is his weak early game damage, so he's pretty much a non-factor without red

Wrong! Because of his

That's terrible reasoning. You can't assume that the other jungler is just going to let you take their buffs freely. Coordinated teams will trap you when you try to invade, and some junglers can outright beat Yi if they catch him early game.

Thanks to Janitsu for the sig!

Yeah, there are some junglers that just counter
Master Yi. But at lvl 6, most enemys are no longer a problem. And before of 6, you need great use of CV and good knowledge about the enemy jungler to counter jungle him effectively. As already said, yi is all about knowing your opponent.

To deal lots of damage in lane, you need to wait for the 7th hit ( for double strike) and you use
Alpha Strike +
Wuju Style ON the enemy champion, resulting in you bursting lots of damage at level 2.
IMO, Yi is an OK champion. He's OK in the jungle, OK in lane, OK early/mid/late game. Not the best, but not the worst champion either
