Exactly.
If the meta shifted to support/tanky DPS bot, Zilean still wouldn't be viable.

Well you just repeated yourself, that doesn't bring much. I also stand by what I said earlier. We could argue by trying to imitate possible scenarios but that is pointless since trying it out is easier and more effective but yeah OP already figured that out before it seems.
^ Yuki actually plays with Winter, Xenasis and myself fairly often. His Zilean is fine* and we've won lanes using it, but it doesn't make support Zilean good.

i love having support zilean in my lane, basically win lane pretty hard

And there is nothing you can do about it. On a more serious note I hate how people expect you to tank mid or some other lane when you are like a mage or mage support like Zilean. I think this is what you are saying that people just understand that some support are good but even better when they have someone to support. Some people just don't understand that MAGES/MAGE SUPPORTS ARE NOT TANKS!!

I think LoL needs that different kind of mage. You see Vlad, Cass and Karthus. They are strong and fast-paced.
You choose Annie. Go there, Tibbers, W, Q and its over. If u killed, OK, if not, thats bad. Vlad is different, his constantly fighting, always using skills.
This game needs more mages like that

Streams and Pros are great ways to learn what a champ is capable of, but that does not necessarily mean that everybody can play a champ the same way. Just because ProPlayerX can play ChampZ a particular way and do it amazingly well doesn't mean that everybody can or even should do that. They are where they are because they are playing at a level above many of us, and some people fail to realize that. It's the same for any game.
For example, I love playing chess. Does that mean I'm automatically going to try and replicate different openings by the top players in the world? I might try them out, but unless I understand exactly why they chose to make those moves then I have no right making those plays.
TL;DR - If you prefer to play Zilean as a support, then tell others to just bugger off. Just make sure they know that's your style too though, so they don't plan on you playing AP carry and then not having one. :)

I didn't see him do well on support Zilean for a ton of games.
