Caitlyn is really good, thought outclassed as pointed out by Sivir (Which is a joke imo) and Graves, however she's better at farming at early levels (Also imo O_o ) , with Cait you should always try and steal the game early, if you don't farm enough early game late game you'll be worthless
I'd pick Caitlyn over Sivir though, Sivir has very limits on her escape routes, Caitlyn on the other hand has plenty with her traps and that err, net she uses to go back it comes in handy

I don't play her, so I can't talk from a player's standpoint, but from a viewer's I can.
I think she was much more viable 9not to say that she isn't now), but that she had more bank for her buck, as it were. Other AD carrys have taken her role in the past months.
If C gets farmed then it's game over, yes, but you can make that argument for any other AD carry as well.

(LOL THINKS FOOTBALL IS SOCCER LOOOOL) Gets picked on a lot and can't kick an american football to save their life (DOESN'T REALIZE YOU HAVE TO CARRY THE BALL). DOES THEIR VERY BEST IN THE INTRO, but then realizes that they're out of shape and dies off during the third quarter.
Twitch- The mascott that's actually REALLY KICK *** on the sidelines and comes OUT OF ****ING NOWHERE FROM THE SIDELINES TO BEAT DOWN THE OTHER TEAM! HOLY SHIIIIT SPRAY AND PRAY PENTA KILL WHAT IS THIS HOOOLY FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK WHY DIDNT WE PICK THIS GUY BEFORE WAIT WE DID BUT WE PUT HIM ON THE SIDELINES AKA JUNGLE AND HOLY **** HE IS SO BALLS STRONG BEST PERSON EVER HEART HEART HEART STARS AND HORSESHOES!
that's just my outlook on the main ranged ad chumps and where cait sort of fits-in in a normal persons perspective. :V
Oh and there is kog'maw (EVERYONE ALWAYS ON HIIIIMMMMM).
If you got a decent team with Kog'maw, things go a little something like this
