I misspoke when I said counter. I don't mean like he hard counters her and shuts down all her abilities, I mean the match-up favors him, making him a good pick to keep her from winning lane (which she does a fair amount, or so people tell me).

I think Riven wins 60-75% or so of top lane match ups, so she's a decent champ to learn.
