What do you do on a lane?
Do you dont attack minions and only last hit, so they might push to your turret and play offensive and harras and so they dont get xp and u get some xp or lvl advantage.
Or do you push and play offensive so you can make some damage on the turret?
But maybe loose some xp if they play offesive at turret?

If they are auto-attacking you might want to auto-attack a bit as well. But generally the ideal situation is to have the minions going between the middle and half-way from there to the tower.
This means the tower won't get any hits on them and the enemy is slightly open to a gank. Hard to pull off but if you sorta lure the minions up against the side furtherst from the tower you can prevent it from shooting at them

DEWO summed it up, as usual. Dealing less damage than your opponent does to the minions mean that they push more, meaning that the opposing champion is more vulnerable to ganks if they're pushed farther up your side - you also have the benefit of the tower to defend you.

Last hit as much as possible. Pushing is not smart early game.
Pushing = Repeatedly smash minion face to death
Last hit = wait till the minions get a bit scrappy and just end it for the one that doesn't seem to want to live anymore. (Hit it when there's only 1 hit left to kill it for the gold).

no no dewos got it all wrong. you want to smack the minions around as much as possible, which makes it easier for you to get to the enemy tower and smack it down.

no i'm kidding don't listen to what i just said. dewo as always sums it up before everyone gets the chance.

only last hit when attacking isnt always the best choice.

the best way to control lane presence depends on the situation.

for example, assuming the 2v2 lane, everyone PERFECTLY last hits with ZERO AOE damage and interference with minions pathing. in this case, minion waves will always meet in the middle. but this is never possible.

if you accidently damaged minions more than last hitting, eventually ur wave will push closer to the enemy's tower, assuming the enemy has perfect last hitting. if the wave is edging closer and closer to the enemy's tower, you dont want to last hit. you should kill everything as fast as possible so it will send ur minion wave to the enemy's tower, getting them slaughtered, so the next wave will meet again at the middle. this tactic is called "resetting".

another situation when you dont want to last hit is when you know its safe to push and damage the enemy's tower, sometimes taking it down.

again, lane control is based on situations. however, last hitting should be mastered whether you use it or not. dont get me wrong though, you can still autoattack to kill minions faster while still able to last hit, this is a bit harder than simply waiting for minion to drop to last health before attacking it.

Well you can deny them last hitting also by bringing your creepwave under their tower.

You can do it, if they don't have a high farm capability. So you play yoyo with the creeps.

Once they hit your tower, then you go all-in, and push to their tower.

This can a be a strategy, and deny them a lot of gold. As well as starting damaging tower.
