Does anybody else get the feeling that D3 is going to be nothing more than a mini MMO?

Just the updates and whatnot that they keep releasing. Now they've released an update which sounds like it encourages following a linear build or weapon type or something of that nature, which to me sounds like every other MMO I've played.

I guess I feel it sounds like D3 is tending to close down and restrict and sheep herd more, and D2 was wide open and explorable.

but d2 was linear as **** if you wanted to make it in the harder levels. only 1-2 skills with all your points into skills that gave synergies (and even then skill synergy didnt exist for the longest time.)

enough str to wield your gear, a few dex if you need to aa, a few energy if you're a caster, and pour the rest into vitality.

Yeah, that's absolutely true. And while I agree with you there, those aspects were so easily attainable that if felt like you didn't have to -grind- for it. That's why it didn't matter much to me and didn't feel like it was linear. Also I found it interesting to try to max efficiency down to the last point of Vitality to obtain 100% the maximum stats possible.

Then you power up your skills and you use only a few skills, but even then, I never felt forced into one thing because getting level 80+ was only 2 days of grinding and it was so easy.

That's why I had five dueling accounts and god knows how many mule accounts.

Well.....linear implaying an inability to talent or build something outside of a character archatype? Dark souls allows you to start however you wish and through leveling at soul shrines divine a path you wished. Your base stats varied on how you started but you could level up whatever you wanted. Or linear like you have to build and skill a certain way?

i really don't see any linearity by looking at the calculator. unless they mean to enforce you to taking one skill of each group.

(i.e. 1 tactics and 1 rage skill for barbs instead of having say 2 tactics.)

Regular update's doesnt sound wrong, it supports the Game. I dont follow the hype about D3 in any way, but i play like, so many different mmog's that im fairly interested and would like to give my opinion on this, so could you explain more?

So basically they say there's millions of builds and whatnot, but then talk about how they intend to encourage sticking to one thing and grinding to get drops.

I DUNNO. lol. My concerns may not be well founded but I just feel like D3 is gonna be a mini MMO.
