52bloodeyes: Must be your own spell. Only Arcanopulse or Arcane Barrage will activate unstable magic.

nickatt: I'm playing at a high-level, so naturally these things don't happen to me. I made a second Xerath guide and you should indeed check it out. Mejai's Soulstealer too situational. Sorcerer's Shoes has been out-dated now. Also, thanks for the comment =) Xerath is the s**t!

wouldnt deathfire grasp be amazing on him because you can go E-deathfiregrasp for easy stun or do you need to hit with one your skills nto a item activation

Very good guide, and explanations :). In fact, you did a wonderfull work, but you shoulden't. There's gonna be much more good Xeraths ou there (shhhhhhhhhhhh!! xD).
Man, what can I say... Xerath is The ****. I mean, so strong early game, so strong late game, it's the god of mages. I got to desagree whith you in the selection of a couple of items, just so you can try it and say me what you think. Abyssal Scepter it's the first item I see useless, or at least more situational; the thing is that the way I play Xerath they don't even have time to see me before they are dead, neither will they get closer to me, in wich case I just ghost or flash away. Void Staff? I think the Locus of Power gives enough penetration alongside your boots, but it's still a good choice. Instead of this 2 items I prefer to go for Morello's Evit Tome. Why? I've seen that with Xerath mana could be an issue even late game, and with the cooldown reduction you are allowed to harrass like hell with your powers, plus the ultimate comes to a riduculous cooldown time of 48 seconds (I think im gonna cry :o). Add to that a blue buff, and becomes 36, YAY!. If the enemy team has half a brain will begin to look for you first, so then is the moment when I go defensive, a good Hourglass or a Guardian Angel does it great, or, in case of heavy magic casters, a Banshee's is the item of choice. Also, and here is where everyone will heavy desagree, I get a Meja's early game. It's just a lot of AP, though it puts a lot of attention over your head, I think a little of strategy can easily counter that, even if your team it's not the best, or has no tanks.

My overall build looks like this:
or or
And for those who are cryinig for an AD Xerath, ***** please... When you full build AP your Q, a multitarget skill, hits for around 700 damage my friends, and getting MR wont help thanks to Locus of Power. It's simple a LOT of damage. Going AD on a mage it's a terrible sin you shoudn't commit with any other champ; want AD? take Vayne or Xin Shao or any other fighter.

Cheers! Xerath rocks |m|.

AD Xerath is terrible.

Not only does he have a rather short 550 range for a standard "cheese" AD carry, but he also has bottom 10 attack speed, and very average attack damage base.

His kit also really isn't that helpful in the AD role.

He has to build AP to make use of his passive, his Q has poor base damage, his W is a really really really bad AD skill, it doesn't increase his AA range, and it just makes you a huge target. His E gives you a stun, but you need to use your other ap based skills to make full use of it. His R gives you a way to spread your damage over several targets, and lets you proc an easy stun on an E'd target.

You have no escape, average range, and no CC that you can use without losing a huge amount of damage(Ashe, Kennen, Ahri, Kog'Maw).

He is overall a very poor canidate for an AD carry.

What Temzilla said.
I even tried Jungle Xerath. As far as it works, it's one of the most disgusting things I've ever had to do. Just no. AP please and ty (and if u want some physical damage just get a Lich Bane. Otherwise choose a different champion)

Selastian: Thanks! =) Good luck to you!

Plaxix: I get Abyssal Mask for the AP and the magic resistance. Banshee's Veil is a good replacement but doesn't give AP, while Morello's Evil Tome is the second possible replacement (but I don't think I need the CDR from it so yeah). Zhonya's Hourglass isn't bad just because Xerath has no continuous damage spell. It's just a great defensive item overall and gives +100 AP (second most next to Rabadon's Deathcap). And thanks for the vote, appreciated =)
