You might have also noticed that I have finally, as man already suggest as well, switched over to Lich Bane. It was always a hot candidate for the last item slot and after extensive testing it works great.

Dude DUDE I made a mobafire account just to tell you this:
I've been playing with this build and it rocks, but I've found the missing piece of the puzzle.
The Lich Bane just felt a little off, especially because the idea of the build is to stay far from the enemy, thus rendering Lich's passive useless. I suppose you added it because of the MR.
I started looking for a substitute and found the perfect one:
What is better for a true SWAGman than a classy drink?
ATHENE'S UNHOLY GRAIL!
Dude, dat +90AP! Dat +40MR!
AND DUDE, DAT AMAZING MANA REGEN!
The two mana regen passives are just tailor made for this build!
And with the little extra CDR, you'll be breaking havoc with your artillery shots.
The synergy with the rest of the items is just perfect.
I've only tried it as the last item of the build, but maybe you can find a better place for it.
Like building the Chalice of Harmony after the Rylai's or between the Archangel's, and fully upgrading it to Athene's after the second one.
Give it a try and tell me how it works out for you.

Do you think Athene's Unholy Grail would be a viable item on Kog? It seems with his massive mana pool and his tendency to OOM very easily, the Chalice passive could be put to good use and the extra mana regen could be very useful. Not to mention the ****ton of magic resist and decent AP it gives.

Could you add a section on athenes holy grail? I don't use it much but it seems good if you are all spam happy

I won't lie, I thought this was a troll build, and the only reason I gave it a shot was due to the high approval rating. The build really does pawn, and I'm having a lot of fun using it. Thanks Swagrid!

If your build wasn't ******ed, i would have upvoted. But as for now, i dont see how this would work as a legit build so im not going to vote anything. If you switch your build so that it can be used in ranked games/legit normal games, I will upvote. My suggestions are that you remove two of the Archangel's staves, and replace them with: Abyssal, Zhonyas, Unholy Grail or Quicksilver sash, depending on the situation.

Hi, pretty nice guide, been playing ap kog for some time and wanted to share my thoughts that ap kog gets powerfull a lot later than normal casters (he needs at least lvl 11 and some core ap items) so imo it's nice to lane him on duo lane with some sort of support.
And another thing, what u think about recent nerfs too him? Living Artillery 150% bonus dmg to 125% is not so bad, but max cap for mana usage from 200 to 400? That's ridiculous! Looks like Athene's Unholy Grail is gonna be a must if not for regular mana regen, then at least for passive on kills and assists.

I tried this guide out today i did well, however i do not enjoy stacking AA staves, i dont know why i just dont. I ended up using build 2 and replacing the other AA staff with a madreds. Once i got baron buff i had around ~750 ap (because of runes) 1.6AS and 17%health+Regular damage. It worked out hilariously because no one built MR so i literally 5-7 hit their tanks, and thats without abilities besides w. Great guide

i just finished my first AP kog game ever. I went 11-1-1 and they surrendered at 20. clarity really helps early without blue buff and the early tear was solid when i didnt have blue buff. i rushed a deathcap since i got so fed but this guide really helped, thank you!! +1
