Greetings all,

I'm currently lvl 26 and would like to learn how to jungle. Having read quite a few guides, following them to the smallest detail, I always end up failing. Not in live games ofcourse, but in custom games. Ganking is not the problem, I've played Yi for quite some time, both AP and AD, but my jungle route is lacking.
When following the guides they start little golem, wraiths, wolves, blue golem and that's where I die... What would be a better route? Also, should I start with Vampiric Scepter or am I better off cloth+pots or +crit and pots?

It could just be what abilities you use first. Plus if you don't have a full rune page and mastery set it is quite hard to jungle with some champs. I've never jungled with yi but I'd say max E then q and make sure to get a point in w early to heal between camps. Start with cloth and 5 pots because that's just the safest thing to do when you don't know what to build. If you're in customs I'll take that to mean no team mates so you get no leash which of course means you'll have less health going through the jungle than you would in a real game.

In a real game I'd recommend starting at wraiths with help from mid to "damage wraiths" then get a leash at red. Start out with your E then get alpha strike at level two and go dunk nooblords. Then go get your wolves and give blue to your mid if he needs it. I'd start cloth and 5 cuz I'm not accustomed to yi and don't know if the rad sythe would work better. Yi doesn't have to wait to get to level 6 to gank and I would abuse that. He can alpha strike in then press E and kill most squishies.

As I said I don't jungle with Yi so this is speculation but I don't see any reason that that wouldn't work unless the lanes just weren't gankable. Someone will probably come around later and yell at me for getting everything wrong like they usually do though so don't worry you'll get your info eventually.

Thank you Miss Maw, CasterMaster and Arcana3 for the sweet sigs. I'd definitely recommend you to anyone looking for a nice sig.

practice in a custom game first, then normal, then ranked.

I'm pretty sure there are some good Jungle Yi guides on here... I think Saint, from team CLG, actually has one posted.

Since you are learning how to jungle there are a few possible options:
1 - Start with cloth + 5 HP pots
I think this is the best way to learn a jungle and practice with them. You may be a little bit slower but you will have higher hp and can build into either Tabi or Wriggles.
2 - Start with Boots + 3 HP pots
This is my favorite way to start since it allows you to move through the jungle faster and gives you stronger ganks.
3 - Start with Vampiric Scepter
This is a little more difficult with master yi and I wouldn't really recommend it, but that doesn't mean others don't it.
4 - For AP Yi ONLY start with a dorans ring

As for jungle routes it depends on what you intend on doing.
If you wish to start at either their red or your own for the early lvl 1 gank start with wraiths and then move on to red. Remember to ask your team for a leash otherwise it will be a little more difficult. Start with alpha strike when you do this for the procs.
If you want to start at your blue you should either start at your wolves, or do a single alpha strike on their wraiths, and ask for a leash on blue. Starting out blue is usually a lot safer.
