“Where the copyright holder makes available to his customer a copy – tangible or intangible – and at the same time concludes, in return form payment of a fee, a license agreement granting the customer the right to use that copy for an unlimited period, that right-holder sells the copy to the customer and thus exhausts his exclusive distribution right. Such a transaction involves a transfer of the right of ownership of the copy. Therefore, even if the license prohibits a further transfer, the right-holder can no longer oppose the resale of that copy.”

so basically, EU will be able to resell 'used' digital copies of things. and to think microsoft wanted the next xbox to be purely digital, when theres been a lot of **** going on about used game sales.

**** storm incoming.

We'll have to see what digital distribution services do about this.

xD I like.

Hopefully EU doesn't pull another big pile of **** to make up for this nice decision.

Want to smack all those greedy DLC sellers in the face by getting a cheap copy on ebay.
Maybe they will notice that 5 euros and more for some ******** ingame make-up set isn't going to do it anymore.
(Shame on the gamers who make it possible, though)

All the people who sell their accounts and then try to retrieve them (I know it happen quite a few times with WoW accounts) will now get sent to jail since it will be considered theft. And companies such as blizzard will now be unable to stop hackers from selling accounts.

Imagine these scenarios:
My account gets hacked. I try to retrieve it by contacting blizzard.
I sell my account. I try to retrieve it by contacting blizzard.

How will blizzard differentiate the two? How will they know your account was indeed stolen and you're not just trying to use blizzard to commit a crime? Blizzard is not going to risk believing you, they will surely stop retrieving stolen accounts.
This is going to turn into a massive *****torm. Honestly, they have no idea what they just did. Hackers are now free to steal and resell accounts as they please.

Woohoo, sounds like hackers didn't hack accounts before and sold/deleted everthing they could...
Seriously, the only REAL difference now is, that you can do it legally. Period.

Specially talking about Blizz... with or without EU's decision, Blizz will try to bound you with stuff like "soulbound" etc. enforcing that sales are done over THEIR system.

"My account gets hacked. I try to retrieve it by contacting blizzard.
I sell my account. I try to retrieve it by contacting blizzard."

You really think everything stays like this after Blizz is forced to allow acc selling?
Moreover, seeing as it is, they should also be forced to make it possible for me to unbound and sell single games from the acc.
Ofc Blizz is going to start a *****torm about this, but since they always jump through such hoops to sell their stuff, if EU can impose it on them, they will prostrate. Like opening an internal Blizz game market, undertaking the transfer, but also taking 10% transfer fees e.g.
(And if your Battle.net acc gets hacked.. 95% of the time it's you fault anyway.)

It seems you're too dense to understand the issue. Blizzard returned hacked accounts because they know that no matter what happened the account belonged to the original owner. Now they can't return even if it was hacked.
Being hacked now means you literally LOSE THE GAME. You will never see it again. Thank god for the Blizzard Authenticator, I'm getting one right this moment.

EDIT: Also, please provide your evidence for it being the users' fault 95% of the times you get hacked. My sources indicate that most hackers target forums like this one, steal everyone's passwords and then try them in accounts such as Blizzard's and e-mails, and then steal whatever they can through that. People who are actually stupid enough to download keyloggers and trojans are a small majority. What will happen now as well is that if a steam or origin accounts gets stolen the hacker will be able to sell each game separately.
I just hope steam creates an authenticator like blizzard's.

Try reading past the first two sentences, could help.
For example everything past the 2 lines I quoted from you.

For the edit:
Dude seriously... if your Battle.net acc gets hacked it's your damn fault.

Keylogger ofc your fault, using the same acc name and password on small stuff like forums etc. AND stuff you spend money on? YOUR DAMN FAULT.

It wouldn't be your fault if Blizz would leak player information like Riot did, it wouldn't be "your" fault if your friends/family did sth with your acc (< but still you would be the one with a problem)
