Why is everybody so hostile in LoL?

I don't think i've ever played a game that has had such a hostile and critical community. I mean it's almost every single game I play, there is somebody swearing/insulting people. The finger pointing is endless, "Oh noob team", "gg easy", "f***ing ks!", "You suck, uninstall the game", is there really any need? For once I would like to have a game, where people get along and actually HELP eachother, or is that too much to ask of some people...

Don't get me wrong, I love LoL and will not stop playing just because some people are beyond annoying and horrible. Just wish it could be different.

Any thoughts or stories?

get friends to play with you or make friends ingame.
in 2 years of lol i might played maybe 50 games in solo q just because of people like this.

and it even gets worse.
when i did a smurf i was shocked how much flame and rage is going on lvl 1-5 games where u play a game with 8 smurfs and 2 guys being new to the game

wow

that is all.

Actually, to answer you, LoL was designed as a pre-made team game. There is so much flaming and trolling in this game because when someone dies, their is actually someone else that is always partly at fault. While I would just shrug my shoulders and proceed to win, most others can't handle this and instead decide to rage. They spend more time talking then playing, and so we lose.

And really, this is in every community. I have seen plenty of other community's that are worse then LoL, it's just less obvious. Take CoD for example, that community is so stupid and immature that I refuse to participate in it. It's just less obvious then LoL, because in LoL you cannot choose whether you're talking to them or not unless you do mute. Who wants to mute someone? It's not worth the effort. I could go on for another two paragraphs explaining it all to you, but you should catch my drift by now. Either shrug it off and deal with it, or go play pre-mades with friends/join a clan.
thanks Hogopogo for the banner :D

eh, they're in everygame. Even when I play 5 ppl pre made teams with friends we keep blasting each other and qqing, but for fun tho. I tend to piss of the ragers even more when they rage. Steal their buffs, troll them, deny them help, etc. I would rather lose and troll the **** out of a ******ed rager team then to carry them to victory.

Thanks to Amazing Monkey for the sig. Just like his name, he's amazing

It's just a normal part of gaming really.
Some people will of course object to this
and that's fine. I think it's alright, I'm
used to it. In fact, when in COD, it was down
right funny to argue with trolls and bigots.
Of course it's unpleasant to be called noob
or have someone say "easy" when they win, in
the all chat (I always report those), it's just
a natural part of it. The others said it; Join
a good team and it won't and shouldn't happen.
If the enemy does it, then just take pleasure
in it, because then you mostly did something
right ;)

You can also easily mute, if you hold
down TAB and click the blue icon outside
the name of the rager. Contrary to the
/muteall command, or however it's done.

Oh, this is a pretty 'iffy topic.

Anyways, I've been started maining support and I guess it is going pretty well. I will usually get that one rager and sometimes they're down bot with me. They sometimes are too over-expecting of me as a support and flame me. It's just a shame that some people don't give some of the credit to the support that they really need. Well, what do I do about this? I just ignore and be a really and I mean REALLY nice person. The attitude rubs off on your lane and it does wonders for the game. People play so much better when they are in a good mood. The lane rubs off into other lanes and soon you have a nice communicating team. This is how League should be played but it's a shame that this isn't true. Don't get me wrong, it's possible and I've witnessed it before. One piece of advice: Be careful with the constructive criticism, some people take it the wrong way. Wait until you build up the trust and develope the "happy lane".

TL;DR: Just ignore it and try and be nice. It will soon rub off onto your team-mates and all will be well.

Being nice or just not flaming back at the other person is the best way to go but I guess it is too easy to push other peoples "buttons" and piss them off. I actually try to counter any potential whining by saying "gj" just for small things like defending an early turret rush. Just get the mood light and not delve into negativity.
