Hang in there until lvl 6 and then I would try to push my lane and camp the bot lane for some easily earned gold. Mid seems pretty much messed up already and Katarina ain't the strongest farmer, so try to snowball either top lane or bot lane.
You will lose your lane but try to keep your tower up as long as possible, push --> roam whenever your ultimate is off cooldown.
That's how I would do it. Xerath might get out of control due to his free farm mid, but you can't really do much about it. Just try to make sure that your top and bot lane wins.

Buy at least 3 wards and keep one near the tower for clutch escapes as well as forcing Maokai to towerdive me if done right.
I'd also be picking up wraiths at every opportunity.

How would I survive? Kill them both! Rara! Back to reality, I would probably build some defense and/or sustain (spell vamp or health.) Agreed with Lugignaf ^

My responds: (READ AFTER YOU POST SO YOUR OPINION AIN'T WARPED) I obviously started boots 3, so I would rush sorc shoes and buy 3 wards and some hp pots I would ward the one brush/ the wraith camps and hug the corners(near warded brush) if I see maokai I would simply shunpo to my ward or minons when he looks like he will engage. I would try to last hit/push the lain so I could roam A LOT because Kat can do that easily with boots t2 and that much MS. This is how I would survive. Also keep in mind versing xerath you can shunpo when he goes to skill shot and you will dodge it...if you shunpo to him you will be behind him!
