Counter picking is all about exploiting deficits.
For example, Kassadin is a counter to Ahri, because he
can silence people. And silencing makes you unable to use
any of your abilities for a while and Ahri is a mage, who
relies exactly on her abilities. Plus, with his ultimate,
Riftwalk he can dodge her easily, as well as gap-close
easy and escape easily. And she's an Assassin and if you can't
catch your targets, that makes for a bad Assassin ^^. On top
of that, Kassadins passive Void Stone also helps counter
mages.
You've gotten some nice champions. I would recommend getting
a few tanks too, so you have a bit of everything. Also, in case
you don't know, don't buy any runes until you're level 20 :).

Thanks, I know a bit about counters, but say with Morgana, Ill have trouble going against anyone with a fair amount of range, I hit all my skill shots but I cant ever seem to win the lane against them. And I would get a tank or two, but they kind of clash with my gaming personality, I like mostly burst damage dealers with high mobility, i got morgana on a spur of the moment and ended up doing okay with her though.
Well winning your lane means different things to
different people. You don't have to get a kill always,
to win a lane. Many times, just staying a alive, keeping
up on Exp and CS (creep Score) is enough to constitute a win.
Tanks like Malphite can be built like mages and then you'll have
a tank in your inventory, while also being able to, as said, build
him like a mage and deal high burst damage.
