I've recently decided to focus on my support game. I've always been decent with supports like Soraka, Taric, and Sona which all provide some sort of sustain, but I never really delved any deeper than that.
So I bought Leona, and had my first go at Support Tanking (not counting Taric here...). Wow, I was impressed! I find that you really need to have better communication with your AD carry when you play a support like this, but when you guys are on the same page, it's absolutely devastating to the enemy!
I've been trying quite a few different builds, most of them utilizing an Armor-heavy rune page and rushing Philo/HoG. I'd love to hear of any interesting builds that you guys have had success with, with Leona. I'm really starting to like her.

TL;DR: I really like Leona.
Since Tanks are fight initiators and damage soaker my bnb is
Too much MR and Armor and people will counter you with
Normally Ninja Tabi, if you REALLY need it merc treads (just remember they're expensive so only if you really need it)
A tricky thing I have with her is starting items. I typically start either Boots, 1 ward, 1 health pot or Cloth armor, 2 wards, health pots (I wait to buy 2nd health pot if I can). I pick these depending on the damage of the lane / how often / early the enemy jungler will gank.
Shurelya's, Randuin's, or Zeke's are usually good other items on her. Other than that other good survival items like BV.

Instead of getting HoG after Philo's, go for a Lucky Pick and upgrade that into a Morello's.
After that, I like going Aura Bot with a side of AP.
Basically:
Philo > Pick > Ionian Boots/Situational > Shurelyia's > Morello's > Frozen > What the team needs.
