SOO, after ~6 years I feel it's finally time for me to upgrade my computer a little.

My main goals are to make my computer more quiet, to upgrade the gaming capabilities and to possibly decrease my loading times (purchasing an SSD).

So far I'm 90% sure I'll be buying (price is in Swedish sek):
Fractal Design Define R4 (recommended by mr.Jonas Thörnqvist) + 2fans (900sek+~300sek)
Sapphire Radeon HD7870 GHz Edition (2200sek)
Samsung 128GB SSD (850sek)

Now for the discussion:
  • Nvidia GTX660 will be out in September, should I wait? (I think I will) It may make AMD/ATI reduce the prices further (they just did a week ago) and it might also be a better GPU for my money (I doubt it though).

  • Is that graphics card quiet enough?

  • I'm pretty sure I want an SSD and right now it stands between the Samsung 128GB SSD and the 256GB SSD.
Prices in Sweden and specs are:
    • 128GB Verbatim 270MB/s read 225MB/s write 600kr
    • 256GB Samsung 520MB/s (80k IOPS) read 400MB/s (36k IOPS) write 1650kr
    • 128GB Samsung 520MB/s (80k IOPS) read 320MB/s (30k IOPS) write 850kr

Feel free to discuss the case too if you'd like.

owow I'm a derp, I bought crucial m4, it was like $20 less than the samsung, didn't realize samsung had like 2x write >_>

w/e lol the ~200 write is still very nice ;o

what does having more write to anyway? I assume increase installation speed?

Thanks to TRUeLM, Plastictree, Scrax, Xiaowiriamu, foggy12, JahGFX, jhoijhoi, msrobinson, JEFFY40HANDS, Nyoike, MissMaw, and me :) for the sigs!

Quick update:
Haven't bought anything yet, but preparing for my SSD by reading lots and lots and lots about AHCI, NCQ, TRIM and RAID0.

So far I've managed to update my motherboard BIOS. Getting me a better powersaving feature putting my CPU at 23°C in idle, which is ~5°C hotter than the temp in my room. My e-peen just grew a few inches :D

Get Windows instead of Linux.

Stop trolling.
There's no Steam for Linux yet. That's a basic requirement for me to switch.
