Serious question alot of popular champs get nerfed but they dont seem to be affected.

For example graves, corki and shen. Three popular champs got quite a few nerfs but still are banned and played alot.

Shen got a total of 6 nerfs since rework.

Well it balance the champion thats what it does but they still remain strong picks and are thus still banned.

Well the incoming Ez nerf makes me cry if that's what you're asking.

Thank you Miss Maw, CasterMaster and Arcana3 for the sweet sigs. I'd definitely recommend you to anyone looking for a nice sig.

All in all it doesn't seem to effect them because their kits are genuinely strong. More over nerfs are intended to balance them for certain phases of the game rather than weaken a champion overall.

For example early on Darius' passive was a big problem with his kit. (They fixed his ult too but that was plain broken due to the grace period resets). His passive was so strong that it essentially meant if he Qd+AAd you were nearly insta dead from level 1. They toned it down now so while it is strong, it doesn't give him such a strong advantage early. It ramps up though so it stays relevant.

Another example was Graves' passive in conjunction with the damage output/AS bonus from Q and E. He could stack his passive and essentially have the equivalent of a cloth armor which meant he always won trades bot lane due to the high damage and high durability. Other ADCs were completely defeated due to their genuinely squishy nature in comparison.

Corki's Q as well as how often Valkyrie was up meant he could poke people down, follow up with more damage and back away without suffering too much risk. Now he has to be more aware and careful. his Q is still strong poke, but he can;t afford to over extend as often.

These are just my observations though others might see it differently.

This gets a little past just the mechanics of the game, really. People are used to thinking of certain things as strong, even if they aren't necessarily strong any more. After Shen's rework, for instance, he was pretty damn powerful. While the reworks have brought him back into a much more balanced state (excepting broken parts of his kit that can never be fixed without completely changing the champion), people are used to him being powerful. So people tend to see what they expect, that Shen is powerful, rather than anything else, until what they expect and what they see are so totally disparate that they can't any more.

See also confirmation bias, which explains the phenomenon better than I do.

Pretty much agree with alot of what said. For exmaple shen will always be banned until ult is not global.

they are affected. but because they were a bit too strong before, they just become strong. since they are popular, more people like to play them, so they just ignore the nerfs, and play the champion nevertheless.

highly doubt this, additionally, don't thin riot has plans to make shen's ult non-global any time soon. He's beatable top right now by champions that can splitpush hard, Nidalee, Teemo come to mind, yorick might be a decent splitpusher. AD Nidalee seems to be a common response to the shen picks from most of the pro level teams, we saw it at Worlds 2 and in the IPL qualifiers with Balls vs. Wingsofdeathx
Thanks for the Signature MissMaw!
