Why do phone designs have so much wasted space?

It's a great piece of hardware, albeit a little on the large side for a phone and I just can't live without a Nexus phone myself. (I am sick and tired of slow updates and all the shit that manufacturers and tele-companies throw in) I want the phone to be one giant fucking screen on the front. I don't want big areas that are pretty much useless. Only making place for a speaker, camera and a light sensor above the screen. Years ago we didn't have the technology for it, I'm pretty damn sure we do now. MAKE IT HAPPEN PEOPLE! (heh)[/quote]
