Usually if you position well, your shield, your spellvamp and a Zhonya/GA is enough. His passive and massive healthgain from
Children of the Grave are suited well for AP-oriented builds.

Maybe you die a lot with morde, but that's on you. I admit morde takes EXCEPTIONAL awareness to play, and - die often with him to, but I've run up against some mordes that have their **** down and ward effectively. Plus he's one of the most FUN mids in the game
