Sadly if you dont ban the normal.
Malphite, mumu, shen , ali and blitz its bad ban. Honestly i don see why they need be banned all time i can deal with them.

It's because most people don't bother learning how to counter them. They just do what everyone else does. Ban the normally banned. Also if a pro gets their hands on one of those champs, they can get their team really fed.

Amumu, Malph and Shen I understand, but I usually pressure the enemy team towards banning some of those, specially if I'm first pick. I do not think blitz is obligatory, although I ban him if I'm not botlaning and can afford the luxury (idiots are idiots). Alistar is seldom picked sinced S3 changes, at least I rarely see him.
I may also ban Eve, since she's strong as well.

why wouldnt you evolve W? it gives you a ranged slow and adds 180ish damage to it and you can hit multiple people with it and clear minions waves with it

As for bans, shen and malphite can be real gamechangers, amumu and eve to a somewhat lesser extent IMO.
My duo queue partner had 83% win with ranked amumu, and he played it LOADS. The ult is sick, the ganks can be astounding. As for this season's eve, go check how often she is banned. She is an amazing elo farmer if you know how to do it.
