You have many champions that you say you can do well with, but I notice that you're less confident about your strength in each role in general. Since you seem confident with AP carries, I think that your next step should be to take your stronger AP champions and try supporting with them (
Lux and
Morgana, for example). You said that you've tried this, but that it didn't go well. My thinking here is that if you take a champion that you're comfortable with to a role that you're not, most of the learning that you do will be about the role, and maybe a little bit about the champion and their capabilities.
As for the champions you've labelled as "Future Considerations", I have a couple comments. What I typically do when trying to expand to new roles is take my strengths and make sure that I pick champions that show these strengths. This makes it so that I'm not trying both a champion and a role that are outside of my comfort zone. For example, I generally play AP carries or aggressive supports, but I don't play top lane a whole lot. When I do, I usually pick
Renekton, due to his heavily ability-based play style, as opposed to someone like
Tryndamere, who is more autoattack centered.
I suggest that you try
Malzahar as an AP carry, since you seem to enjoy champions that are capable in both combat and pushing a lane.
Also try
Graves as an AD carry, since he is also a very strong laner when paired with a proper support, and he has rather high base attack damage with which to last hit. There is a bit of a learning curve to his abilities, but practice always helps.
For supporting, again, you should try champions that can be both aggressive an defensive. This way, you don't have to worry as much about synergizing with your carry. If you pick
Leona, you're mostly going to support your carry by warding, protecting them from ganks, and giving them kills. Lots of kills. On top of that, when you fall behind with Leona, you fall behind hard. I suggest a more middle-of-the-road support, like
Lulu. She has multiple ways to engage or disengage, and this is typical of supports who have a spell that does different things when cast on an ally or on an enemy.
Best of luck to you! Starting out solo can be intimidating, but you will certainly improve if you learn from each match.

Well, I used Xin Zhao in the jungle and actually did well today.
Still want to use Jax because I like Jax... Although maybe he's more of a Xin Zhao that has more AP capability in something. And some better escape.*
Swain was apparently a good buy because he can go mid or top.
*Screw it. Abandoning Jax top and sticking to Wukong.
@Alterica: The thing is, most of this 'good with' involves using some of them in co-op matches more than real normal ones, unless otherwise noted (Like Wukong, Swain, Annie, Morgana). About the time that came out, I more or less stopped playing normals because like I said, I didn't like solo, and my options for team was limited. Hence the post. The QQ thread is probably chock full of reasons for my mentality.
I've seen some changes for Malzahar I like, so I'll take him at the top of consideration. Some of the guys I played with knew him well, too, so I have people for advice.* Graves also doesn't seem too hard, so he'll also be another pick. Maybe I'll take up Renekton over the others for top.
Already have Lulu, and I like her, so I'll end up using her when I support.
*EDIT: Advice is he's not really that good now unless it's a tanky mid without a gap closer.
Liandry's Torment is nice, but they criticized building
Rod of Ages.
Also asked my old mentor about getting an AD Assassin sometime, mostly between
Kha'Zix and
Talon. Suggested I go Kha'Zix because he's fun.

Note that I lack experience, so the best I can tell you is if I think I'm GOOD with a champion I own, not if I'm good in the lane. I'll leave notes where applicable, as well as who I might be looking into for more options. Looking mostly for tips for the champions, as well as for games in the 100-200 win level. Hopefully I can actually GET to 100 wins sometime in the near future.
-Solo Top-
Not a lane I really would like, since everything involves bruisers and initiators. I prefer champions that just sustain or deal damage.

-Mid-
Thinking I enjoy lanes where I'm alone. This is probably my favorite lane, where I have my favorite characters. If I ever get to higher levelplay, I'd probably main this one.

-Jungle-
Not something I've done often enough. I just don't have a lot of ganking experience. Anyone I choose is someone I've practiced in the jungle and came out with any ability to gank.

-AD Carry-
Last hitting is not my strong suit, and I've never done well as a carry. Still, I enjoy some of these.

-Support-
Don't think I've done that well in a support role, although Sona seemed like a good luck charm when I bought her.
