League of Legends (LoL) Question: What is happening to the newer guides?

What is happening to the newer guides?

It seems like recently every time I come into Mobafire I see a bunch of new Guides on the front page and when I hover my mouse over them to see how they're doing they all show horrible ratings, why are people publishing and even "working" on guides this bad...?

New guides have been constantly bad for a long time now, and good guides get pushed off the front page quickly because 5 new garbage guides get published soon after. The main page seriously needs a rework that shows "rising" or "scouted" guides by default, not "newest".

Its based on score in the first 2 weeks. Essentially its the top guides over the last 15 days. After 15 days they drop off, tho may occupy space on other lists if they meet the criteria. No guide should show on two lists in that box, even if it qualifies. Its High Elo > Scouted > Rising > New.

In all seriousness though, what's the formula for determining whether or not a guide is "rising"? Does it time out after a certain period of time so old guides don't occupy it forever, or is it based on frequency of recent upvotes?

The date is roughly the time throatslasher came and began a tiny crusade to better the guides on MOBAFire.

It is tempting to submit your guide when unfinished if you run out of time, but good guides take hundreds of hours of work to write. It's not something you can pull out overnight.

That's not really the problem... It's a problem, but not the only one.

And really, people should have the common sense of not publishing guides uncompleted. Pressing publish leaves it open to the public, which is essentially the same as submitting a piece of homework or coursework. What we see is what we're going to mark. And if it's unfinished, you're gonna be penalized for it.

    The problem is...

Incomplete guides. I did myself that mistake, making my guide to under 20.

Now it rised again, 52 lol

There should really be a warning popping up before you "publish" saying this problem, so people could be informed and not going to dig their own grave

Actually, I can pinpoint whenabouts that started happening and people started actively giving a **** about guide ratings. It was roughly August 21st 2012. If you can guess the reason why, I'll give you a cookie.

And that Ryze guide was honest-to-god bad.

Percentages are lower because more people are actively downvoting **** guides. Guides used to get free upvotes from 1-post accounts or sock puppets without people really giving a ****. I doubt the guide quality was higher back then.

I used to come onto Mobafire and the front page would be filled with good guides rocking 60% or higher now it's all 26%-35% I even saw a 19% Ryze guide 2 days ago.

Having 'new guides' is fine since it gives free publicity to new guides (and there are occasionally good ones), but I just think they should add a 'Recently Popular' tab as well.

Anyway, this isn't anything new. Bad guides have been published every day for at least since I started using MOBAFire, whatever the date is on my profile.
