I appreciate the advice! Your tips are excellent for more competitive and traditional thresh games. This build isn't intended for major competitive play - I've made sure to state that a few times in the guide. it's made to present a fun and unconventional strategy for normals with friends. I'll reiterate this in the introduction to make more clear.
@ DKitten:
yes, this is a slower build, and I understand that not everyone likes that. Also, please actually read what I mentioned about gold optimization in my other guide. the blitz build takes about 50 min to complete with no cs. this one takes a bit longer than that - I will be testing it more to find an average build time to make sure all the specifics are right. I request you don't judge the entire build on one bulleted word in one section of the guide: also remember that this is a for fun build, not ranked/professional action.
Concerning the guide itself, downvoted because thresh = support, and you said the con of the build was 'costly' -> A support must be building gold efficient items so you pretty much just dug your own grave there.
Same issue as his
-> Incorrect, if you want to know why, read my blog. Supports rush sightstone and then go into a gp10 or locket first.

- This build is all wrong for many reasons. Number one your runes are way off. Go flat seals of armor and flat MR glyphs for early tankiness. Then you want to get flat AD marks for amazing early pokes to help your ADC get kills. Lastly you want to have 3 +1 gold per 10 sec quints. This will give you the gold you need to play a proper support.
- Next complaint. Your items are way off. All high ELO players that take any support character always rush early
Ruby Sightstone and second into boots. You cannot play proper support without
Ruby Sightstone and at constantly buying wards for your team. Support makes the least money and buys the most wards. Number one rule.
- Next item issue is your core. You seem to want
Sunfire Aegis and
Abyssal Mask in your core. These are not good items on
Thresh. You don't need AP or constant aura damage. In fact you should try your best to avoid building much damage at all.
Thresh brings enough utility to fights that you should be easily securing kills for your ADC without the extra damage. If you have too much damage you are likely to steal kills which only cripples your ADC and really doesn't help your team as a whole.
- On to masteries. You should never ever on any champ be throwing all 30 points into one tree. With
Thresh it is best to build his tree as a 1/13/16 getting points in your summoner spell buffs, defense enough to sustain you early game until you collect souls, and utility spells to help you lane early and give you gold, a ward, and a free health/mana sustain item.
- Now I understand that you have fun playing this maybe in classic 5v5 and this can sure do a descent job but if you want to ever get into competitive play or ranked you will need to change this build up a lot. Also this guide is lacking in explanation and many other key aspects that a good guide should have.
Sorry to down vote but I must.
