Views: 1259 The Current Viability of Derpwick

Ever since the buffing of Nashor's and Wit's, I've found that AP Bruiser Derpwick is actually viable and even pretty strong top lane. Haven't tried him mid, but the fact that Wit's and Visage are both MR, I'd think he's dominate the lane.
If I'm against an AD champion, I tend to rush Nashor's to get my damage spiking early, and also grabbing a Kindlegem and Sorcs shoes. Then it's either Spirit Visage or Wit's next, or if the enemy is really AD heavy, an Iceborn.
But yeah. Stuff.
IDK, I tend to talk out loud when I like something. So eh.

So no, building straight AP isn't good (until like item #6 maybe, which could be a Zhonya's or Rabadon's if you need more damage instead of tankiness).
However I've been playing top warwick recently with a sort of tanky cdr build with sustained damage items and it's been working pretty well. I think he's underestimated as a top laner.
If I have a good lvl 2 ganker in my jungle, I harass a bit, let the jungler gank, and usually get a kill. Dunno if it's because I'm low elo or what, but I think he's the strongest sustained lane as of right now. Might just be my luck, iunno.
Also, it's easy to get an enemy below half health, and running around as a super fast werewolf is fun imo. =P
He's also a great 3s pick from my experience.
Wards. Also, I very much disagree that he's weak in lane early. His q deals nice poke (run out of bush, q for damage and heal, run back) and heals. Maxing cdr has his ult up ridiculously often, and once you get Randuin's or Iceborn, he has slows.
Just my opinion, though, and I am nowhere near highly ranked. XD
His laning is mostly fine due to natural health sustain, and some manag regen. repairs his mana problems somewhat. But with only Doran's Ring or so at the start, an early gank will hurt AP Warwick very much. He needs to get farm and kills to carry on to mid-late.
Laning AP Warwick is pretyt boring lane. He won't be able to kill you, but you can't kill him either without ganks.
There are better top laners due to few facts:
- More CC
- Better unconditional mobility
- Better burst/sustained damage
- Possibly tankier
Plus, he's kinda dull tp play, isn't he?

Later game he tends to be chasing after your ADC or APC, and can't really be killed without extensive focus. He lacks utility for his team after his ultimate has been used/interrupted, and only excells at single target damage. This makes "Derpwick" a little niche pick.
All in all, he may end up being the weak link in the losing team's composition.
