Yeah, riot specially designed the thresh lantern to be small enough so that if an enemy champion stands on the lanters, you won't be able to retrieve it.
However, it seems like your case is that you have a stupid ADC. It's all about the luck of the draw, i guess. They don't get much brighter in silver I fwiw

Somewhat silly but when im with thresh supports normally when I get ganked reflexes make me react faster than my sup and I end up flashing before he throws lantern -.-

Well i know that threshs lanter is small to click, but if jungler is ganking, and i toss it in the bush wehere is he standing, or on the river where is he coming infront of him..and i hook an enemy. e just passes next to it and i could use a shield durning the battle. i just dont get it 1sec to save somebodys life...even in ranked..i ask ppl before if they know they say that they arent noobs or what ever..even adcs, he needs some range i toss the lantern on open and i running next to the enemy adc and mine adc just passes by the lantern and then he blame me that i didnt slow him and he had the lamp to jump to me and idk kill him if he was low.... -.-''
