Building just Hp means you will take the full damage anyway. you are still squishy, maybe you just need one or two more hits to die. only really works if your oponents are working with base damage, imo.
SotAG is simply very interesting and probably mandatory on a good amount of tanky junglers.

it just takes out the middle man in regards to effective health...more health = more ability to tank things.

Tenacity is never wrong on any champ and clearing jungle camps faster means you get super high objective control, so why not? You also gain mana regeneration and CDR.
CDR can also increase the effective HP because most champs which will buy this have a defensive spell.

If Morde builds SotAG, he's a bad. Fullstop. He. Is. A. Bad. Not a whole lot of other champions want to farm as much as Morde does, and outside of certain strategies, buying a spirit item for the passive is pretty bad.
