i am sure attitude is a big deal... but..... i dont think most people understand the huge difference in skill levels from bronze/silver to plats and diamonds..
on two occassions i got matched up vs a Plat player (mid lane) in a ranked game (he was duoing with a friend it turns out)... and both times i had what i would consider fairly hard counters to them in lane ... nevertheless...they just out right destroyed me.. then went on to kill my entire team
the game it self looks a lot simpler than it is .. so its hard to tell for people at lower levels exactly how much skill is involved when playing the game at a plat/diamond level..

From what I've heard from friends in high plat/diamond I can say that player attitude plays a big role.
Basically all of them got fed up with silver/gold and just tryharded for a week or so and now they're as chillaxed as ever.
Most of the diamond people I know got there just to prove a point as opposed to actually wanting to improve lol
big time
