Today, I experienced one of those matches where a teammate just decides from the beginning that he has it out for me and harasses me the entire match. I wasn't even playing noobishly. I have noobish games (it happens, being a noob) but this was not one of them. In fact, it was one of my stronger performances, both in terms of stat line (11/8/12--less deaths than anyone else on the team) and map awareness (use of pings). I was the first to win my lane, which was mid (not surprisingly, he was the first to LOSE his).

I did not respond to a single one of this guy's attempts to troll me. He was relentless, from beginning to end. In the endgame chat, he said that he had reported me.

Which brings me to my question: how effective is the reporting system, really? Sure, I reported him for verbal harassment, but lord knows what he reported me for. So now we're both reported.

Do I just have to hope that, over time, this guy accumulates enough reports to stand out from those of us who get reported arbitrarily by him and others like him?

Just mute and report him. Anything else is up to Riot. There's not much else you can do anyway.

if you actually didnt break any rules then you wont get introuble

think of it this way, someone reports you for killing someone but you actually didnt even murder anyone, the police arnt going to arrest you if youre innocent the same applies here

now if he actually was breaking rules then yeah hes gonna get in trouble, the people in tribunal are super strict about things one "wow what a ***" just once has been enough to get people banned from what ive seen

^^ Right what dill said, also I once heard that people who rage and flame people and rape the report button have less merit to their reports.

I'm sure that Riot has implemented some kind of little boy who cries wolf system into the Tribunal so it's very likely that this guy did report you, but even more likely that his reports really has no voice or say in the matter, due to players like him unjustly reporting people who get pardoned by the Tribunal every game.

Bad games happen, you gotta learn top by losing top a few times.

Iv'e been playing since season one, and I have been threatened more then once by people who said they were going to report me, and I have no doubt they did like the Trolls that they are. However I have never even gotten an official warning from riot so as long as your not doing anything wrong your fine.

I don't even mind getting raged at if I'm actually stinking up the place--I look at is as a rite of passage, kind of like a football coach cussing out a receiver for dropping one pass. In this case, though, I was playing well.

Not that it matters. The harassment started before the game even started. He clearly picked me out at random. He must've reported me for not being trollable (or maybe he'd tried and failed to troll me in the past, who knows; I always ignore these people).

Does anyone know how the tribunal even works? Do they actually go back and review footage from the match, or something? That seems like a lot of trouble.

Ultimately, I don't care. I don't have a vendetta against anybody over a video game. I'm mainly just curious about the system itself.

bah the reporting system in this game is **** end of, its very ineffetive...needs a reworking if u ask me as it very easy to get around any punishment they may give if...Not that many people are scared of a small time ban xD.

Also u need like 100 reports (or so it seems) before u even get an offical warning.

From my experience in the tribunal as a judge, you need a minimum of three reports for misdemeanors. And I never saw a case that someone was reported for being an unskilled player, meaning that those probably don't get sent to the Tribunal very often.

Provided you didn't rage back, chances are pretty good that you won't see any consequences.

Reporting is a community service, not a personal revenge mechanism.

If you want to see toxic players punished as a result of your own actions: be a tribunal judge. Do a few cases every once in a while.

I've seen cases with two reports in them.

Also, Riot has stated that you cannot be sent to the Tribunal for being reported as unskilled.
