Click the image for official site.

Specs:
  • ~4.95-inch 1080p IPS LCD (445PPI)
  • Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU at 2.26GHz
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16/32GB storage
  • 8MP rear camera with OIS (see below)
  • 2300mAh battery
  • Dualband Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac
  • Notification LED
  • Wireless charging

Pricing will be 349$/399$ for the 16GB/32GB versions.

Battery life will likely be pretty good. Light use will last you 7-8 hours(web browsing).

8MP might not seem like much compared to the 13MP cameras in most of the high-end phones out right now, but megapixels are only resolution, nothing else. 1080p(1920*1080) is 2MP, 8MP is roughly 3240*2560 and I'm sure that's plenty enough for most people. Megapixels have nothing to do with the sharpness, noise and color accuracy of the camera, and those things are far more important.
The major thing here is the Optical Image Stabilization though. The OIS will make it significantly better to film with and will make it easier to take good, sharp photos in darker areas.

It comes with Android 4.4 Kitkat on launch. Which will bring more optimization and a few interesting changes in design. I personally love the darker theme of Jelly Bean, but the brighter theme of Kitkat apps doesn't look too bad.
64-bit (4+GB RAM) support is might also be included in 4.4.

DON'T get this phone on a contract. ISPs like Verizon can seriously delay updates if the phone is locked to their network.

My old Nexus S is really starting to show its age. 1GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, 480*800 screen with bad maximum brightness, a meh camera and meh battery life is really noticeable compared to newer models.
If it has a good camera AND good battery life it's a given purchase from me, even if I'm kind of torn about the large size of it. (tight pants + large phone = rectal pains)

It's a phone. All it needs is a green telephone button, a yellow envelope button, and maybe a calender, if you're feeling particularly classy.

You're in the wrong thread, bro. You clearly don't belong here if that's what you think.

Don't kill me now pls.
But the recent phones, obviously, all have quad-core cpus.
But is there even anything that can properly make use of a quad-core cpu? Or is it just the same as back then when Pentium 4 was better than the early Dual-Cores?

Kill you? O.o
That's a perfectly reasonable question..

It was like that when the first dual-core phones started appearing. Only the OS could make use of several cores at the same time, which basically meant that the only time 2 or 4 cores was used was pretty much when the rotation animation was played (when leaning the phone/tablet into landscape/portrait mode).
4 cores are still not used in all that many apps as far as I know, but two cores is more common.
Still, as we move forwards we're gonna get more and more parallelization of resources, so it's gonna become more and more important, just like it is happening in the desktop PC market right now.

So it seems the leaks about the announcement being the 15th were false. Or simply mistaken. The 15th was a date for something, probably some SDK or hardware build that they were gathering to discuss, but it was not the announcement date.
More credible rumors say that it's going to be the 31st October. That's probably a preliminary date tho, seeing as they seem to be scurrying around trying to finish Android 4.4 right now.

Rumors speak of new other new Nexus devices too. Nexus Leep and Shining are possible codenames. Shining might be a digital Android-based lightswitch (which sounds really weird, I know). They're likely announcing a smartwatch under the Nexus banner too, by the name of Gem. This could potentially be really interesting.

There are also rumors of the Google Play Devices section opening up in Finland and Norway and 'possible other countries'. PLEASE LET IT BE SWEDEN, I want my Nexus devices directly from Google.

I've found a few cool software leaks about Android 4.4 Kitkat.
It honestly seems like a pretty large update, I'm confused over why they aren't calling it 5.0.

  • The launcher(the "desktop" of sorts, including the app drawer/all apps area) will be updated to '3.0'. We've been using 2.X since about 2009, so this could potentially make a huge difference.

  • We might see a bunch of Google's default apps migrating to the Play store, just like Google's Calendar and Keyboard apps have already(the keyboard is only available in the US so far tho, outside of Nexus devices). Apps that are candidates for this migration are: Launcher(mentioned above), Phone, Camera, Gallery and Clock. I'd love this so much.

  • Location settings are getting revamped. It's now more obvious as to which effects the different settings will have and IT WILL SHOW LOCATION HISTORY, WOO. You can now see which apps used which system (Wi-Fi, triangulation or GPS) to get your location, and possibly also when.

  • SMS will be integrated into the Hangouts app. I.e: no more Messaging app. I'm fine with this as long as the Hangouts interface can match the functionality of the Messaging app. The Messaging app in 4.1+ is awesome.

  • The clock app looks to be getting a few tweaks so that it gets even more awesome (solving all the gripes I had with it <3)

  • The downloads "app" will get an overhaul.

Here's a link to most of the rumors I mentioned:

Tbh, I'm quite tempted to get this one.
Not that I need it.
Not that I can afford it (well I can but RL is about to happen very soon, so....ya)
Got phone, tablet, ipod already, this would replace all those. What if the battery sucks?
