This coming Friday marks the beginning of the first true competitive event of Season 4 - Korea's Champions Winter! Though the entire tournament (or at least the group stage) will probably be played on the last Season 3 patch, the tournament itself is sure to be significant in the future. Korea has used circuit points as a way of determining which team goes to Worlds for the last two seasons, so it'll be interesting to see whether they decide to stick with the same system, or shake it up a bit.

The current roster of the participating OGN teams is exciting in many ways, with long-standing teams eager to reclaim or defend their place on the throne, while daring, new teams fight to establish themselves. I won't go into huge detail here, but there are three teams you really need to watch:

  • SK Telecom T1 2 "Judgement Day" - This is Faker's team, or the team that won Worlds. Though they haven't been undefeated recently, they're still terrifying (note that Faker finished the season ranked #1 on the Challenger ladder in Korea). SKT2 have displayed a level of coherence and deadliness that has been unseen since the likes of Moscow 5 back in early Season 2. They're the favorites to win the tournament, and for good reason.
  • CJ Entus Blaze - Coined "Neo Blaze" by some, the new Blaze looks back and in great form. Ambition is playing like his old self again, and is back to All-Star status. Though he slumped quite hard after being trounced by Dade in the OGN Spring finals earlier in 2013, his most recent matches have shown that he's in top form. Meanwhile, Flame continues on his rampage as the strongest top laner in Korea, if not the world, while Blaze's new jungler Daydream and new AD carry Emperor both show amazing promise and aggressiveness.
  • Samsung Galaxy Blue - This team is perhaps the epitome of the Korean amateur circuit. Ozone's sister team, SSG Blue have mostly been living under Ozone's shadow for as long as anyone can remember. They've historically been a second rate team that haven't accomplished anything major. Yet by simply moving Spirit to the jungle and picking up PawN (formerly WonSeoK of MiG Blitz) in the mid lane, they defeated the KT Bullets, then Ozone, and then trounced SK Telecom in a 2-0 match before finally falling to Blaze in the WCG Korea qualifiers. PawN is the star of the team, absolutely demolishing Faker two games in a row. SSG Blue is the scariest new team in the running, so look for them to make plays.

Leave in the comments who you think is going to win this season and why!

Group A:
SK Telecom T1 2 "Judgement Day"
CJ Entus Blaze

The new Blaze has been incredible. Emperor really made up for Cpt Jack's lack of versatility, and Daydream has just been a beast.
And ofc skt #believe

Group B:
KT Rolster Bullets / NaJin Black Sword / Samsung Galaxy Blue

TWO OF THE THREE. This is insanely hard to match. Blue's the rising star, Black Sword's the underrated old team who stepped up greatly (nagne pls), and KTB's always been insanely strong despite their recent slumps.

Group C:
Samsung Galaxy Ozone
NaJin White Shield / Alienware Andromeda

I literally have no clue about Alienware. Dark seemed really lackluster in decisionmaking.

Group D:

CJ Entus Frost
Jin Air Falcons

Honestly depends on the state of all these teams. Did Frost break their slump? Did Falcons / Stealths / Storm improve greatly? I'm gonna go with Frost + Falcons for a safe bet.

So I'm slightly new to watching the OGN (basically never seen it before until recently where I have been watching old clips and matches)...someone wanna give me the run down?

I do really like CJ Entus Frost though simply because they have Madlife and Shy. And of course I'm on the SKT2 band wagon...I'm sold.
I main...the entire top lane.
I miss: Tank Rengar top, AD Nidalee, Mash Keyboard Ryze...the OPs

Group A:

SK Telecom T1 K "Judgement Day" Hyped amateur team with a top lane faker-esque guy called Marin
CJ Entus Blaze - Completely different team from before. New ADC and jungler are pretty aggressive and fit their playstyle. ambition also stepped up quite a lot. Flame's still beast.
Team NB - no clue. new amateur team?
SK Telecom T1 S "Terminator" - faker team, nuff said? s3 world champs

Group B:

KT Rolster Bullets - went pretty even with skt last season but kinda slumped at their regionals
NaJin Black Sword - was a beast team in 2013 winter but slumped hard and even got knocked out of ogn. however they've shown great improvement in worlds and have shown to stepped up quite a bit.
Incredible Miracle 2 - not sure
Samsung Galaxy Blue - another most hyped new team with a beast new mid laner called PawN.

Group C:

Samsung Galaxy Ozone - was once the kings of spring but slumped hard at worlds and got knocked out of group stages.
NaJin White Shield - not sure, but in last season's ogn they were quite an average team
Alienware Andromeda - no clue
Team Dark - amateur team, watched a few games and i didn't think they were that good.

Group D:

CJ Entus Frost - cloudtemplar retired and maknoon got in. have to see how they do
Jin Air Falcons - reapered's team. they did really poorly after switching reapered to mid. have to see how they'll do.
Jin Air Stealths - last season was quite mediocre (similar to shield)
Xenics Storm - quite mediocre last season (similar to shield)

Last season the teams were pretty much like
Tier 1: SKT T1 K (faker's team), KTB, SSO
Tier 2: NJBS, CJB, CJF
Tier 3: JAF, JAS, XS, SSB

a lotta changes to rosters and im assuming that the new list would be sthn like
Tier 1: SSB, CJB, SKT
Tier 2: CJF, KTB, SSO
Tier 3: JAF, JAS, TNB, IM2, AA, TD,

i forgot about a lotta the lower tier'd teams. im sure jebus can give you some more insight

embracing: faker's team is still known as "judgement day"

it is unclear whether marin's team will be known as "terminator" or whether monte / DoA are going to come up with a new name for them ("salvation" is very popular on reddit right now)

apart from SKT S (marin's team), i don't think the other new teams stand much of a chance

btw, tonight's games are going to be played on the 3.13 patch (what's currently live) with Sivir and Heimerdinger both disabled

Watched old clips again...I'm not so sure how to feel about RapidStar. I sort of like Ganked by Mom a little more...partially because of his name but besides that...I like his play. I still need to really watch the CURRENT games though and not just these really old ones...

EDIT: Well this is irrelevant since Makoon is now their mid laner.
