I accidentally locked Soraka without seeing Taric had already locked in a ranked game shortly before S4 preseason started, and said "f it" and loaded my AP Tristana runes/masteries against a Kassadin mid. This was my first experience with AP Soraka, and in a ranked game against Kass at that. I effing DESTROYED him. I then looked for a guide here to see how I could tweak my AP 'raka - which has since successfully held down Malzahar, Ryze, Ahri, Annie, Lissandra, Gragas and Kassadin again - but was unable to contribute significantly late game aside from split pushing. What I found is that I can demolish an enemy wave, and push a lane VERY quickly with AP 'raka, to the tune of 2-Q wave clearing. With me splitting, my team is stronger because Jax or Udyr or whoever else would have been doing it can now fighter/tank and my team van 4v5 successfully. I absolutely LOVE AP 'raka now, and at some point I may take her to ranked intentionally. Until then, if I see Kassadin or Malzahar or any of the other mages I have successfully held down, and nobody else *wants* to fight them, I will pull her out for the simple ability to hold their APC low into mid game, so they are useless in teamfights and my team can demolish. I don't care what ANYONE says about AP 'raka not being viable because she doesn't burst, if I get into a teamfight and die, I will die knowing that I got an assist on every single kill my team gets out of it, as well as the gold from it to get more items. Keep on keeping on!
