Ah, silly metal songs about alcohol. Good stuff. A friend of mine really likes this death'n'roll band called Kvelertak, and he got into the band off their song Mjød, about mead. It's really hard not to enjoy a song where the chorus is literally just thanking Odin for mead. He also really likes their selftitled song, Kvelertak. They're a pretty solid band, but they're musically way too simple for my tastes.
Kvelertak - Mjød
I've been kinda' listening to a ton of deathcore these days. Been browsing /r/deathcore, which has been fueling it. Got turned onto Ovid's Withering there, and hot damn it has been a while since I was so immediately in love with an album that I just ordered a copy on the spot. And a t-shirt, to boot. There's a full stream of the album on Youtube as well, or you can find it on their bandcamp.
Ovid's Withering - Oedipus Complex
I also was told to listen to Shadow of the Colossus, which I've also been doing a bit of. They're also quite good, but not as hugely up my alley. I should probably also get a copy of their most recent album, it's just harder to justify immediately.
Shadow of the Colossus - Insurgence
And, finally, I caved and listened to a bit of Vildhjarta, since they're supposed to be one of the really good djent bands out there. They've got some really fun percussive, rhythmic sections, but I haven't found anything that really draws me in a lot other than that. Still, at least it's not full of clean vocals. I'm not really a fan of clean vocals, and especially not the poppier ones favored by most metalcore-related bands that use clean vocals.
Vildhjarta - Traces (off Omnislash)
I've given the Impending Doom album, Death Will Reign, a few more listens, and it's really solid. Middling production values and a lack of melodic passages made getting into it take some listens, but it did reward me for taking the time to really listen. It's still probably going to be an album that mostly gets play on omnibus playlists and for specific moods rather than more general listening, but that's fine.
Also, there's apparently going to be a new Within the Ruins album in late July, which I'm super pumped for. I'll post tracks when there's a full one out, but the little teaser that I have heard excites me.
And I just got an email for a new Opeth album in August. Having listened to the single out from it, I'm not particularly excited (I got into them off Ghost Reveries, but so little of their other material is really that heavy), but new Opeth is still big news. The single can be found on Vimeo here, but I can't embed it.

Still on my deathcore kick. Been listening to more of my Chelsea Grin. Although a lot of their stuff is pretty forgettable, I'm really enjoying "Sonnet of the Wretched" and "The Human Condition". I'll probably pick up a copy of their new album... Eventually.
Chelsea Grin - The Human Condition
I also picked up a copy of Protest the Hero's new album, Volition, a while back, and it's taken me a while to really get into it very much. It's just not as heavy as I'd like right now, and I'm not particularly fond of some of the songs. Still, the opening track, "Clarity," has a funny music video, and I'm a pretty big fan of "Tilting Against Windmills."

And Within the Ruins has put out the first track off their forthcoming album, Phenomena, and I'm pretty pumped. It's a little poppier than I'd really like, structurally, but they did an AMA on /r/metalcore (if I recall) and said that the rest of the album is heavier. They'll be coming to town on the Summer Slaughter tour, so I'm highly considering getting off my *** and actually going to a metal show.
Within the Ruins - Gods Amongst Men
Also, /r/metal literally just turned me onto Allegaeon, and I'm loving what I'm hearing. I really, really adore melodic death metal, especially when it's fast and technical.
Allegaeon - Tartessos: The Hidden Xenocryst
In the vein of melodic death metal, have another Brother Von Doom track. I really love the switches between 3/4 and 6/8 time in this one. I wish the video wasn't stupid, but the audio quality's solid and I didn't see any other options so whatever.

funny thing when you find a full album of something you never heard of but can't seem to stop listening.
