don't understand why people are so hard on Messi. If he doesn't pull out a flashy play every 5 minutes people seem to miss every other good move he makes, such as the simple but effective little passes and just the little things he does every game. Not to mention the fact that he was by far the most important part in why Argentina got that far.

Good, consistent play doesn't always have to be flashy and I think he deserved to win the golden ball.

this. the only reason that he didn't score was the fatc that every team had like 3 players who made sure that he couldn't do anything.

I'm sorry, but if his name wasn't Messi, he wouldn't have received the Golden Ball. It's really that simple. I didn't watch all of Argentina's games, but in the ones I did see (vs. Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany) he didn't have a big influence. The reason Argentina got so far is because they defended terrifically, not because Messi set up or made a bunch of goals every game - which is fine, it doesn't mean he was bad, but he simply wasn't the best. As far as I'm concerned, the fact he still got it is a joke.

Thanks to Hoppermh for the signature!

you're right... Messi lead every attack of Argentina, we did 8 goals in this WC, and in 7 Messi was involve, 4 scoring and 3 assisting...

Messi is playing in a team who needs him taking the ball in midfield and taking the ball to the goal... that's not fair for messi...

Thanks to jhoijhoi for the sig!
