To me Empire is still my favourite movie, but I've some pretty good stuff in my personal top 10. Didn't watch battlefield earth yet and will give it a go. Even if it's not going to beat Empire for me, or any of the Star Wars movies - omitting the prequels here of course - I'm always up for a good movie.
