Really nice guide ++

This guide doesn't make any sense. Why would you recommend buying Vampiric Scepter, if nothing in itemization tab related to it? You write to never buy Trinity Force (situational and only for fun) but then right beside it you list it as a finisher item, and in your match history you take it almost in every game. The guide is very confusing.

EDIT. PS: What's up with last whisper? why is it always buy, and what should i build it into? This guide presents more questions than answers

Have you considered adding a Rylai?

The build will go like this:

Frozen mallet first
Boots (mercury or taby)
Blade of the ruined king third
Rylais fourth (or third)
2 Defense (magical or physical armor of choice).

I like making rylais first just for trolling, but surprisingly I have won in most cases. I want your opinion if you think this is viable.

By the way, this guide made me a Gnar main since July :3.

Caenmetu, Man you made my night hahaha I've never tried Rylai's but now thinking about it, it might actually be viable like you say. It may be better to run Black cleaver into Rylai because Frozen mallet would just provide a double slow effect, however I don't know yet. I sometimes run Liandry's Torment as first item for W damage and burn, I think combining Rylai's and Liandry's might be pretty interesting. Definitely going to do some testing on this, seems really fun to pull off. Couldn't be any happier about turning you on to the most gnarly champ in league ;D great idea, I don't think AP Gnar is trolling ;) hahah thanks for the feedback!!!

CrystalNick, the meta changes so often, along with Gnar counters and play style, If I were to invest the time in counter lists, they could turn invalid within a week or so...I'm open to feedback! I am always looking for ways to improve the guide, thanks you for the incite!!

i think in general that gnar counters tanky top champs that have no enegage (for example Nasus or Dr.mundo or Darius) And is rather weak against champ with higher range than him or have hard cc or a good engage (Maokai, garen, pantheon, aatrox ...)

the thing is that mini Gnar is more a damage dealer than a tank (little bit like an adc) but as mega Gnar you get a lot of resitances and HP so i wouldnt recommend to jump into the enemies as mini Gnar because he isn't tanky enaugh like mega Gnar. the only bad thing at mini Gnar is his auto attack range which is only 400-500 (depending on level) while other adcs have around 600 or more aa range.

yep. Gnar's current state right now is pretty much just off-tank damage dealer, really good at getting picks.

Gnar need buff the HP per Level, i compared to all champion ranged and i think its very unfair if he's only have 1645 on Lvl 18 when the other have 1800-2000. I hope riot buff his HitPoints

riot nerfed gnar's w because it is the ability which makes him a bit to a lane bully because of the high magic damage which is used to shred the tanks and the cd on the e got increasesd because he can escape jungle ganks very easy with the ability. But still he is a great champ because u can win teamfights very easy with him and the laning phase is also still good because the nerfs r only small nerfs.

and frozen mallet is of course still a great item for him because of the slowness effect which is great in 1 v 1 or in chasing/kiting and also the stats r still good.

Couldn't have said it any better! I agree 100% with you, the nerfs are small, however they are there. This patch put Gnar in a more balanced state than he was, yes he was op... The nerfs make you play safer in the laning, since overall damage is lowered slighty and the E cd is increased. Gnar is still a perfectly fine pick! but his win rate will suffer from this patch :(. Just remember you are the little sh~t that destroys everyone after Frozen Mallet anymore D:

Want to ask you this question because patch 6.18 is out already. What do you think about the Gnar nerfs? They lowered the base damage of his W Hyper by 5 each rank and increased CD on E on early levels and rank 5 is same CD as before. I wanna know is he still viable.

Also, People say Gnar sucks if playing solo because the team needs to be coordinated with you because the rage bar is controlled by the Gnar player. Is that true? Finally, should Frozen Mallet still be used even after the changes? I would like a feedback :)
