Thanks for giving back to the community! It means a lot to all of us - the time and effort you put in to help contribute.
Our site uses BBC - short for BulletBoard coding to format appearances and such.
There are a lot of neat tricks you can do to try and make your guide look nice. Some good places to start are as follows:
The BBCode wiki
The Making a Guide Guide
EDIT: GMD's guide template
Once you kind of know the basic ins and outs to coding, you'll be all set.
Oh and one more things - recently, tables were added to BBCoding, and there are some really cool things you can do with them.
Here is foxy riven's guide on tables
I hope that helps! And if you have any questions, i'm sure we can help answer them ^_^

I want to create a guide for a few champs I play regularly, I have a few questions.
When creating a guide what format/coding does this site use? I want my build too look presentable and not flamed because it's bland and without formatting.
Is there any templates anyone could mind sharing so i can go off those?
Also how do i go about making a new guide? do i click the champion builder on the top right of the site nav?
