Xerath fires an orb of raw magic, stunning the first enemy hit for up to 0.75−2.25 seconds depending on distance travelled, and dealing 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 (+45% of ability power) magic damage.
While you can land a W to make it easier for land your E, if you E first you can increase your W damage. A single E can trigger an Arcane Comet Rune or provide an easy follow up of W or Q for a Cheap Shot Rune trigger. However if you land your E, W and Q, you can also trigger Electrocute or Phase Rush easily. Just remember to not wait until he last second to use your E, or the duration will be too short to be worth expending it, and if it is possible you will miss, you can fire the edge of your W to make contact with your E target but mostly cover the area where they would dodge it to make sure at least your W would hit, and if your E does, your W while not doing extra damage will still do full damage and slow. In both scenarios you can escape or use your Q more safely.
