Introduction
Scope of this guide is to provide a clear outline on what is the best roadmap for playing this champion effectively. Please keep in mind, as always in LOL, you need to be flexible with your itemization when against certain team compositions.
Feeback is welcomed, please keep in mind however, this is a general guide not a specific guide on "what is best".
Zhonya's Hourglass - For more survivability its a great item, especially when your Spirit Rush is down.
Rod of Ages - This could be used instead of Rylai's Crystal if your team has a lot of slow /stun.
Mejai's Soulstealer - Great with the stacks, but if your not working well would not be a wise investment.

Orb of Deception over Fox-Fire, Fox-Fire over Charm, and Spirit Rush
Orb of Deception Is a great farm/harass. I choose it first over charm and fox-fire at level 1 to help me get more minion kills and harass my opponent. I will max this out by level 9.
Charm I get this at level 2 and finish maxing it out after Fox Fire. The damage falls off compared to Fox-Fire, its mostly used as a CC anyways.
Fox-Fire you pick this ability up at 3 and max it out over Charm, there will be a point where you can just spam it when you're around a champion and it will do some decent damage. Spirit Rush+ Fox-Fire=beast.
Spirit Rush take this at 6,11, and 16. Its you're survival, your nuke, and how you chase your prey. This is a great and fun ability.

- Strong nuker
- Good farm with Q

- Can't carry against fed enemies
- Needs a good early game to shine in mid-late game
- Vulnerable to CC
- Ult is useful for escaping and chasing
- Not squishy with this build

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration
The only viable reds in my opinion. You need magic penetration for enemies with magic resist runes and masteries. (early game)
Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration or Greater Seal of Replenishment
You need mana regen. I prefer mana regen per level, because it surpass** the flat ones at level 6 and before that you won't run out of mana that quickly. But you can always go for flat mana regen if you prefer that.
Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power
Ability power per level. For that extra damage when you are leveling your W.
It's not that much but you will notice it, trust me.
Greater Quintessence of Ability Power
Flat Ability power. Some early damage can't be wrong, can it? Together with the glyphs it will give you a nice amount of AP.
