However: Every single champion besides Irelia is vulnerable to CC and there is a lot more melee champions than him that are not building mercs such as Fizz. If you read this guide properly I suggested to get Cleanse and/or Mercury Treads( if you DIDN'T read it, it is in the section summoner's). And if you choose to jungle you cannot take Cleanse but also got 10% CC reduction by the mastery tree. I have no clue what else I should do to make you happy about it :). Every champion got the problem of CC but if you feel so bad about it go ahead and build QSS on every single melee character, that should fix the problem.

For the part with no spellvamp, let's get to it. To use spellvamp properly you need spells that got either high single target damage to evade the 30% reduction or huge area of effect spells to hit enough targets. Skarner has not a single spell that is not AOE or, in case of his ultimate, apllies damage twice. That means, of the silly amount of spellvamp that you will get with WotA or the HG, won't save you from anything but dealing enough damage or bringing your shield up. What you can do is asking your support or other AP caster to buy one and profit but I cannot see what item I should drop for such a low use. As I said you can solo baron without any damage which would be negated, while you are shielded, with your E.

A strong shield that doesn't work when you are silenced/stunned/feared...
Skarner is a melee champion, so it doesn't benefit of staying behind your tanks when there is a team fight. So, unless you have very strong cc in ur team: alistar, malzahar, (garen, lb, amumu, nightmare, fiddle, etc) that have (silence, stuns, fears, etc), or morgana to shield you, i would recommand you to get a bit of tenacity, if not mercury boots that i use most of the time, get another item with it.
And, can you count on ur shield and ur heal spell all the time? For a close-quarter fight you need a way to get life back, in this case by spell vampire, so the gunblade or the tome is a must.
For this 2 reasons i don't give it a "+"

It is true that survivability is not a focus in this build. But he also got something that Cassiopeia doesn't have in fights: A refreshing strong shield that prevents him from taking damage. This makes up for the fact he doesn't stack health with Rylai's or RoA.

The initiation is not your job, that's true but there are better tanksvto do this anyway. In my opinion you can go after your main initiator and grab the most important target and kill it yourself without getting instabursted. The dragging part is easy but it happens quite often that the target is still alive. Here comes in the AP Skarner that can usually kill his target while the supression

upvote for the idea, Cassiopeia is the only other real magic dps, and she is VERY powerful when played right. Unfortunately, in both builds, survivability is at a minimum, which makes him a bit less effective in his role as a disruptor/tanky initiator.
