Threats & Synergies
GRASP FULL TANK SETUP - CLOTH ARMOR + 4 POTS = Aatrox can do a lot of damage with his Q's and due to his ult, he gets a lot more of lifestyle than we do, I highly recommend rushing Bramble Vest even before Sheen in order to counter his healing and give you some armor due that he deals a lot of damage with his Q's. You will later on outscale him, since your Q damage output is way bigger than his. Look to dodge the Q's, outsustain him, and if possible do short trades after he used his empowered autoattack. This is a skill but Aatrox sided matchup.
FLEET SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Ahri deals a lot of damage with the back part of her Q (Which deals true damage) and she can CC you with the charm and outkite you with the Ult. Its a rare matchup since ahri is better of as a midlaner rather than a toplaner. My personal tip based upon experience is to look to farm as much as possible and outsustain her mana bar, dont spam E's to get cs, just use q and give a lot of cs if necessarry. Later on to the game, when you get more tenacity look to either dive her on the split with your W and supperior Q damage, or to outrotate her and force a 4v5 situation on the enemy team.
FLEET SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Like Ahri, Akali pokes a lot and the fact that she doesnt use a mana bar but rather an energy bar, makes it really hard for nasus to survive lane to her Q + Empowered Autoattack poke. In this matchup if she runs Fleet, you simply farm and later on outscale her, If she goes for Conqueror, just dont trade at all, she will outdamage you and outheal you (early on) or if she goes electrocute, its somewhat similar to fleet but the thing is that she will get a lot of damage and heals of taste of blood. Be careful and give cs if needed
CONQUEROR / SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Alistar is a straight up support. He simply lacks the sustain to deal damage and outrade Nasus even early on. He can go either AP or Tank. If he goes for AP just be carefull of his burst, if he fails to burst you, hit him with a couple of Q's with E so you get the percentage armor reduction. If he goes tank, he will go for something like Bami cinder and Bramble vest and you can counter both items, you just let him push into tower and if he has bami, get in melee range so the bami does damage to you and the tower will hit him, and if he has Bramble vest Autoattack him (dont q save it) so the passive kicks in and does damage and again he takes towerdamage.
CONQUEROR / SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Amumu is sort of weak early on, specially in the toplane, just concentrate on farming and dodge his Q. Be carefull if he goes for AP, since he will deal a lot of burst, and if he goes tank, same as Alistar, counter his items by letting him pushing into by trading and making sure you dont use E and he does use his W so the wave pushes towards you. Either build he decides to go, he will simply get outscaled really quickly
GRASP (FULL TANK) SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Anivia can simply beat the living sh*t out of you, she can poke you as much as she wants, she will build mana so you cant outsustain that, she can wall, use her ult and hit you with the stun and you can't punish her since she is ranged and by the time you get out of that, she will either be far away from Nasus W range or she will have her cooldowns. She's mostly a midlaner since she is sort of squishy early on, and since toplaner is a longer lane in comparison to midlane, she can get outrunned easily by other champs, but in such case you get into an Anivia Top, i recommend asking your midlaner if he counters her or if he can just survive lane to her more easily, so you can go nasus mid for a better matchup if possible. If he refuses, just aim to survive the lane, go for 3 points in E into a Q max, dont try to stack that hard, look to be the frontline of your team.
FLEET SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Annie is another champion that is rather used in midlane, but if you get into this matchup, give up cs whenever she has her passive up or almost up to prevent you from getting oneshotted, as usual nasus will eventually outscale her due to tenacity and Q stacks, but survive lane is the main goal here. Try to farm taking as little damage as possible. After Sheen rush Mercury's Treads and if she has no ult, look to engage.
CONQUEROR / SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Aphelios is an ADC, meaning that he can deal a lot of damage, but he's squishy and nasus shines at killing squishies, try to bait an all in with W and make him use his turret and then all in him with ghost only when you have your Sheen powerspyke and tabi's . If you cant get him to do that, just farm and in 20 minutes you will be able to run him down easily. The Grasp setup (either one of them) will not work since he gets a gun that gives him lifesteal so your not going to be able to outsustain him. if you dont feel confident, just go Spellbook
FLEET SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Ashe is an ADC, but the thing that makes Ashe difficult to trade with her is her passive which slows you and the ult that stuns you for a long time, you can chose either to go for Ninja Tabi's to slow her Q and overall attack speed and reduce her damage or Mercury's Treads to stop the slow and her ult Stun, choose it according to the enemy team, if the enemy team has a lot of autoattackers and no cc, go Ninja Tabi's and if the enemy team has a lot of magic damage or a lot of cc go Mercury's Treads. As for a laning phase advice, i recommend to try to always have the wave by yourside so she can trade, you can let her autoattack you so the wave comes back to you
GRASP (TANK BUILD) SETUP - DORAN SHIELD + POT = Aurelion Sol is a champ that heavily relies on his movement speed and his stars, so in this matchup what you will try to do is play as far back possible and look to cs taking as little damage possible, try to dodge the the Q as hard as you can. Usually Aurelions will go something like phase rush and ghost, so dont even bother trying to killing them, they will outrun you and dont try to Wither them since phase rush has a slow resistance when proqued so its a waste of mana, dont look to trade at all unless he's 1shot with q, you should look to teamfight with your team, since he will outrotate you
FLEET SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Azir is a really annoying champion to deal with as Nasus, since he has lot of mobility, lot of poke and the ult which stops you from killing him, In this Lane what you should look is to CS and do short trades, as nasus you will later on will outscale him even with his ult, but you have to play it well, its rather a skillmatchup this one. once he uses his dash with the soldiers and his ult is down, he becomes very inmobile, so you should look to fight him in this type of situation, if this doesnt occur, just farm and look to outrotate him
FLEET SETUP / SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Bard top deals a lot of damage early on and even later, he's so versatile and he can go pretty much every item in the game but from what i've experienced, they either go Deadman plat Rapid Fire cannon to get a lot of poke, or they go with support items, or finally they go AP. But the key to win this matchup is to do short trades into an all in. I reccomend using the top brushes and leaving for stacks. Be really careful of his portal, he can use it to set up ganks so dont get baited.
CONQUEROR / SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD / CULL + POT = Blitzcrank as a solo laner really struggles when it comes to csing, so most of the time you are going to be pushed into him since he struggles a lot farming under tower, buy pink wards and use trinkets to prevent the jungler from ganking you. Blitz can kill you early on, but once you get level 6 and sheen, you should be able to 0-100 all in him and beat him. The only realistic way he can win this lane is by just Hooking you into his tower and then cc lock you with e and ult, so play behind ur minions. I also recommend if you want, you can go for a cull and look to get your items as fast as possible with the cull gold efficiency value.
FLEET SETUP / GRASP (SCALING) SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Brand nowadays is usually seen as a support, he used to be played mid to but now it just disappeared. If you ever happen to get into a Brand Top just be carefull when all in him, he can kill you a even with ult, so go for Mercury's Treats regardless of the team, and look to dodge his Q and W. As a Nasus you will not provide the same ammount of damage as him, because he simply has to many AoE damage abilities, but what you can do is splitpush and force him to cover the torret and then outrotate him either with TP or just by walking in a teamfight.
CONQUEROR / SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD / CULL + POT = Braum is a similar case to Blitzcrank, he's kit is simply not built to be a solo laner, he has mana and health issues but what he does have is a really good gank setup, so be carefull with the enemy jungler, try to get pinkwards and respect the jungler, as for laning tips, just look to farm, the moment you get level 6 and Sheen, you just outscaled him. In late game if he's too tanky to split against, just ignore his damage and kill towers.
GRASP FULL TANK SETUP - CLOTH ARMOR + 4 POTS = Caitlyn is really annoying specially because she can put many traps while you are farming under tower and use the extra range to poke you, the only way i found to beat her is to play grasp, since the Q with grasp proc does half her healthbar, try to cs as safe as possible using brushes and go for 3 points in E into a Q max, early on and in midgame she can be really brutal with her damage output, but you will be able to survive and outscale her.
GRASP (SCALING) SETUP - CLOTH ARMOR + 4 POTS = Camille is a really strong champ, specially because of the true damage Q, and all the high mobility, In this matchup you have to look to get around 100 stacks and then start hitting her with Q with Grasp and slowly poke her to the point she's either too low to contest you and she backs, or if she doesn't she just fights you, and you will beat her with ult and sheen powerspyke. Try to dodge the W, is her only way of sustain apart of conqueror (if she goes for that rune) and Dorans Blade (Which is not that much to outsustain our Q poke). Early on (before lvl 6) look to cs without getting hit by the E or the empowered Q (back off when she gets the Q), if she hits you with the E, you are 90% of the times dead, so be carefull
SPELLBOOK SETUP BUT INSTEAD OF PRESENCE OF MIND AND BLOODLINE, GO FOR SECOND WIND REVITALIZE - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Cassiopeia deals an insane ammount of damage, the fact that she doesnt even need boots, so she can go 6 full items makes her really hard to deal and outank her, in this lane, we are only focused on surviving lane as much as possible, i recommend going also Barrier + TP in case you cant survive till your next summoners change. Its a skill matchup, a good Cassio will make your lane a living nightmare, and try to dodge her ult at all cost, if you dont, you are most of the cases dead (you can also choose to go cleanse as a summoner spell from you spellbook).
GRASP (SCALING) SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Chogath is an inmobile tank, he has a lot of damage with ult and his abilities are annoying to deal with as Nasus. Chogath has 2 ways of building, the full tank or the AP way, If he goes full tank, he will eventually build bramble vest when he realises you have legend bloodline, so look to outplay his item purchase by autoatacking him so gets tower aggro, while he mostlikely will try to proc demolish, if you aer below certain ammount of health try to disengage, he will stack you and become stronge than you. If he decides to go for the AP build, you simply just farm get Mercury's Treads and look to dodge his Q and burst him right after with ult and sheen, if he goes ap, he will simply not have the health or resistances to beat you. In this matchup a to go item is Spirit visage, since it will improve your healing and and give you 450 health to stop him from oneshotting you with ult, gives also CDR, Health regen, overall a must to go item into this matchup. If you feel confident you can go ghost in order to dodge the Q Knockup.
SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Corki is usually seen as a scaling midlaner, nowadays they build maramune and trinity force and then critical strike items. Nasus will simply beat him by the time he has his trinity force completed thanks to the phage proc giving him movement speed, Later on to the game, you can dive him 0-100 under his tower if he doesnt have packages. as for laning tips, look to farm and dodge his rockets, he doesnt have cc, so realistically he cant really preassure nasus.
GRASP (SCALING) SETUP BUT INSTEAD OF PRESENCE OF MIND AND BLOODLINE, GO FOR SECOND WIND REVITALIZE - DORANS - CLOTH ARMOR + 4 POTS Darius is a real menace to Nasus, he has a lot of damage with conqueror and his passive stacked up, he gets a lot of armor penetration with his E passive, he can kite you really well with Nimbus Cloak, Celerity and Ghost, overall its a really difficult matchup for nasus and i recommend to permaban him if your not that experienced with the matchup. I recommend to allin him whenever his Ghost and E are down, Since he wont get the movement speed to outkite you and then he cant get the autoreset with E, leaving him with the Q heal and the autoatack reset of W. Look to burst him, usually Darius players will go for trinity force first item for the base movement speed (+7%) it provides and the Sheen proc, so whenever he doesnt have ghost and E, you all in and try to burst him as quickly as possible, ask your jungle to help you, if you fall behind, its really difficult to beat him since his ult deals a lot of true damage.
SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Diana can poke a lot with her Q and her empowered Autoatack from her passive, her blade will light up indicating that autoatack will be empowered. She can only dash to enemies and her gets people closer, so its a relatively easy matchup, either she fights and wins, or she fights and losses, and when she loses, she will get outscaled, let her use her Q, passive autoattack and W to push the wave and you will be fine. Just be careful early on pre-lvl6 if she snowballs, you wont outscale her
CONQUEROR / SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Dr Mundo is not really a meta champ nowadays, his kit is really outdated and the champ isnt great at any point of the game in general. Regarding this lane, just look to dodge the Q's and look to stack as much as posible, its somewhat hard to solo beat him if you dont have some sort of healing reduction. You can abuse his Bami Cinder purchase by letting him shove and then get melee range so he gets tower aggro. Later on the game, you simply beat him either its 1v1 or in a teamfight
GRASP (SCALING) SETUP - CLOTH ARMOR + 4 POTS = Draven has been seen couple of times in the toplane since he has so much damage with his axes and you should definitively watch out in case you get to lane him, he is a super aggressive pick that will try to punish you from taking any farm. The advantage we have in this matchup is that we can Wither his BloodRush (his W or movement speed buff), making it harder for him to get back to his axes, and deal damage to you and if you use ult with sheen he should have to outplay you to win. Usually Draven players when they go top they build either Sanguine Blade or Maramune, and in order to beat this, just get some armor items first so you dont get oneshotted and then when he does a mistake (ex takes a towershot because he tried to poke you under tower) you all in. Pre 6 look to farm without taking that much damage, use the brushes to hide to get in xp range if you cant farm.
SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Ekko can deal a lot of damage and at the same time outkite him due to his passive movement speed buff, In this matchup you are looking to get around 100 stacks and do short trades into an all in (Somewhat similar to a camille matchup) be really careful about his W, usually Ekko goes in a bush and presses W so you can't see when he did it, so whenever you see him getting out of your vision range, be careful he could be trying to set up an all in, he can also setup really good ganks. In the later stages of the game, you will outscale him, you can burst him in a couple of q's but since he goes 45% CDR, Zhonias and has his ult fully maxed, he can kite you till he gets the ult back and beat you, just burst him and let him go away, without ult he cant go as far deep as he would like.
SPELL BOOK SETUP / FLEET SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Elise is not really a toplaner and her wave clear isn't the best, and because of that she will struggle to farm properly. You should look to play behind minions, so she can't use her Cocoon on you, and farm safe, the moment you get 6 you already outscaled her, she simply can't deal enough damage when your ult is activated in order to burst you. Later on it will become harder to lane her since she can use Zhonias, Cocoon and Volatile Spiderling wasting a lot of time of your ultimate, Just look to splitpush, and outrotate her with TP of Spellbook
SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Evelynn kit was designed in order to be a jungler but in a recent patch she's been buffed in order so her kit can work more as a laner. I personally havent played against an Evelynn top but I'd say its a farm matchup, if you are confident about killing her once you get Sheen and lvl 6, go for it, if you don't just sit back and farm and look to burst her in the later stages on the game, this can be tricky but if you build some proper magic resistance items, you should be able to survive her burst and then run her down or atleast thats how it goes whenever im against an Evelynn Jungle
SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Ezreal is a traditional ADC that sometimes can be flexed into a midlaner since he has decent AP scalings, usually you won't find this matchup very often, it will mostlikely be an ADC autofilled as TOP. In this lane, you should only walk up to get to XP range and last hit, dont try to trade, he has a lot of damage, his E (the Dash) has a 28 seconds cooldown lvl1 so if you see after lvl6 with sheen that he wastes it, look to Wither him and run him down. With Spellbook you can afford to go TP to survive early and then Ghost to run him down later on. In Late game, he can pretty much 1v1 you since he will get a lot of damage of Maramune and he will have all abilities maxed with a lot of CDR, so try splitpush and hide in a bush waiting for him to overextend and then look to use ghost and flash to run him down.
SPELL BOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Since the rework, Fiddlestick was able to become more of a strong solo laner, and with the tank build he has for Toplane, he can be really annoying to kill. Look to have vision on the bushes close to your torret so he can't use the passive of his Q. If he goes for a full AP build keep in mind he is really squishy and Nasus pasive with Bloodline is way stronger than his lifesteal so in a clutch situation you can look to just autoatack and Q spam to survive. If he goes for a full tank build, go for Bramble Vest after Sheen and look to outscale him rather than kill him.
GRASP (SCALING) SETUP - CLOTH ARMOR + 4 POTS = Fiora is by far, the best duelist in the game, so try to make plays with your team rather than forcing a splitpush situation, she will beat you unless you have 700+ stacks. Somewhat similar to Aatrox matchup, rush Bramble Best even before sheen, so you can reduce her damage and healing. She will always build tiamat so the wave will be permanently on your side of the lane, exposing her to ganks, ask your jungler or midlaner for a gank once you get yor bramble vest and level 6. Remember she can use riposte to reduce your attack speedby 50%, so if you get hit by it, just disengage unless she is really low and you can burst her. Another usefull tip into this matchup is that whenever she ults, you hug a wall to prevent fiora from hitting the forth vital and therefor negating her the healing.
FLEET SETUP / SPELLBOOK SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Fizz has barely been in the toplane for a while, his kit works better in a shorter lane such as midlane where he can poke and disengage easily, but as toplane is a bigger lane and his E has a 16 second cooldown, he can get punished after that. Look to farm and outsustain his shortrades with either Fleet Footwork or Buscuits delivery. Remember that the further away he hits you with the ult, the more damage it does, so always move sideways when farming either undertower or outside your torret to dodge it. Fizz is a really snowbally Champion, meaning that if he gets kills early on, he can carry the game easily, so look to put a pink in the bush between Herald and midlane (That tiny brush in the middle of the river) in order to let your allies know when he's roaming. If he didn't get any sucess in his laning phase and roams, you should be able to beat him later on the game, you simply outscale him with Q damage
GRASP (SCALING) SETUP - DORANS SHIELD + POT = Galio is a heavy CC and damage midlaner who happens to be really tanky too, He has insane map preassure because of his global Ultimate and has a lot of short trade potential with a lot of CC. As Nasus you want to approach this lane smartly, you want to dodge his
