Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
This build is entirely built off aura support/tank. Start off donig nothing but supporting your laning buddy. A physical carry with a stun is the best laning partner but anything physical is good, failing that, lane with someone with a stun. Your entire goal is to play VERY aggresively, you are absolutely pointless on D, hardly more useful as a minion. You can't hit very hard, have a meager little stun, and a mediocre creep killing AoE. Where you shine (and Taric IS rly shiny) is giving your partner the stun, and the def/dmg to rly shine, along with a sexy heal so you can keep feeding the enemies the shots. Harass with your stun at oportune moments for your partner to strike. YOU NEED THE ASSISTS FOR CASH FLOW! Also your partner will love being well fed. At lvl 4-6 if you haven't died yet, (which by all means you shouldn't) you can tower dive for 2-3 shots of the turret as long as you can guarantee the kill of 1 or more of their heroes. Keep the pressure on them and have your comrade pop a shot or 2 as often as is safe just to keep em back, when the enemy is low health, tower dive, fall back, heal up, and knock that tower down. The soonest i've seen a tower fall on my lane is 5:32 into the game partnered with Xin (simmilar effects can be had with Pantheon, Udyr or any physical dmg carry with a stun). At about lvl 9+ get whoever you can to help u get the blue aura golems due to the fact u can't kill jack by yourself. The extra mana regen and AP is HUGE with your ulti, and the CD reduction is wiked with your stun and heal. At this point you should also be gettin close to havin that Aegis and Mana Manipulator. Mid game there is NO such thing as too much mana, due to the fact that your ulti (which you should now be using during initiation against other heroes) has an insatiable thirst for mana. If you are playing propperly you should be at around (1-3)-(0-3)-(10+). Your kills won't be high cause lets face it, you do jack **** for dmg, your shatter is more useful as an aura than a spell so should only be used as a finisher and your stun has only been there to help your team pick off their squishies. Your sucess is directly compared to your level of assists. 0-1-3 is a really common ratio just due to the fact that you WILL be picked out and slain. You're a tank, AND a healer, AND a HUGE boost to the team from auras. Mathematicaly speaking you become an impervious wall that is useless alone but in a group increases the effectiveness of all your allies by about 50% each late game, not to mention you can finally start to hurt something and finally solo your own aura golems once you get Guinsoos. The Spirit Visage may be swapped out for a Frozen Heart and the last item slot is left open just due to the fact that you are going to need to modify your build slightly every mach due to your team and your opponents. At the end of the day, watch your assists skyrocket, and watch your entire team walk away from an ACE with everyone at 50% or more health. GLHF and hope you enjoy being the most impervious support in the game ;)
