I know this is a very offensive build, but i think in the late game it's absolutely equal if you have defensive or offensive items, because if an enemy is near to you, you are already dead. So you can incest you gold in ability power items for a better damage output.
To survive the early game i choose the summoner spells flash an ghost to escape.
Allways try to harras your enemy with Malefic Vision and CotV. When he is down to nearly 40% jump near to him with flash and to cast Nether Grap while he is in your Null Zone. After that cast Maelfic Visions on him and he should be down.
In the late game--> do the same! Harras and finish with the same combi.
