the meta exists for a reason and it does affect how a character works. For example if there is a meta that encourages mr you won't be able to build like you are doing right, you will have to buy items like void staff or abyssal. what happen to morde is that they nerfed his ability to survive and improved his damage and they also made a lot of ap items that synergies with morde like DFG recently.

Meta may change the way people play, but it doesn't change how characters work.
It might not be the most "ideal" way to play in current times, but that doesn't change the fact that i do amazing every time i build the way i have it here. There is no reason you should have to build pure AP on morde to be good, hes supposed to be able to survive and deal damage, not just burst someone down and try to kill people with your ghost before you die. I take advantage of all the item abilities and slows from my items including the gunblade, its also the only other way to get spell vamp aside from WoA, which you could easily change it out for if you wanted too, but i really like the nuke/slow from gunblade, i don't get it because i wanna be a hybrid. You need to look past stats and consider usage. I apparently use my item abilities a lot more then you if you can see the + side to having items like gunblade with a character without any CC.

well thanks for replying and explaining your build but i think you are way behind in the current meta, items like gunblade are not cost effective unless you are playing a hybrid

you worry too much about defense while morde is not a tank and can't be played like one anymore a year ago Fon was something i would always buy for morde but now i wouldn't even think about buying it because there are much better items. lich bane and abyssal scepter for example should be the only mr items you need and you can buy items like omen's if you want to be more tanky

I'll try to go over each of your complaints~
- The reason i don't level my Q before my W is because yes it does a lot of damage, but just because your a carry doesn't mean you can't ignore defense. Your W does a lot of damage it self AND it is the move that builds your shield the best in fights since it has consistency.

- I get both Hextech and Will of the Ancients for the lifesteal, and the Gunblade does more then give alittle AD, the nuke/slow is very valuable for morde. Its also my personal preference and i have a whole list of Alternative items you could take in its place.

- FoN is no longer on my Carry morde.

- Thank you for mentioning my rune section it could indeed be improved upon.

- Its hard finding all the mistakes reading it myself, i didn't really see many myself so if you know of some please quote them so i can fix them.

- Previously my item sequence's were not in any order, i just listed the core items. But i DID say what order to buy them in the description in the guide for items. But i have changed all of that since then. Things are a lot better now.

- Flash is in no way a completely "better" choice over Ghost, its more a preference and both have their pros and cons in comparison to each other.

- Kassadin, Rumble and other melee/ranged ghosts that aren't carries that are listed are there because they make YOU really strong from their ap/items/passives on the ghost, instead of just having a strong auto attack since you take a portion of their stats.

He was TERRIBLE against some assassins or other duelists in fights, yes he was strong in a solo lane, but not that dueling a lot of people. He is much better now then he was then.

to be honest I'm little bit angry about your guide being in the top 3 while your build is flawed.

-In your carry build you get mace of spades last while this is an extremely important source of damage for morde, you get wota after gunblde when you should even be buying gunblade since morde is not a hybrid and

-you said q doesn't generate shield but id does generate more spell vamp when you hit a single target

-FoN on carry morde?

-your rune section is too brief and you don't give any more options.

-grammar mistakes

- you get Randuin's third and rabadons last when it should be the other way around to get more gold from heart of gold

-You get ghost which is a good choice but not the best since flash can also be used as a gap closer something morde lacks and needs since he has little range, excluding his ult of course

-You said kassadin and rumble were good melee ghosts and ziggs was a good ranged ghost and killing one of those 3 champions for their melee/ranged damage would be a terrible decision, morde needs to target their main source of ad damage.
