I've just finished a game of Riven support with your guide, although it's out-dated right now. I think the new mastery is very good on Riven support, since you can get a huge shield on yourself if you manage to even hit 2 or 3 people at once. The new Alistar is a real big pain for Riven support, he would just knock me out of every single engage, or stun me with his new E. We lost, but I went 5/7/21. Thanks for the guide, regardless.

Let me start off by saying good job on the guide. I am a Riven main who has supported Riven many times successfully, but I normally have more damage in my build. Even if you decide to go the hyper tank route, might I suggest a Black Cleaver in your build? Not only does it give you a little more damage and 20% cdr, but it also, most importantly, allows you to shred 30% of your opponent's armor for your adc (and any other AD champs on your team). To me, Black Cleaver seems a very effective item for support Riven.

I'm intrigued and willing to try this out at some point. I say that as somebody who finds her awkward to control, and as a Trundle fan who enjoys ruining Riven's day, so cheers. I think you've done a good job fleshing out the guide thus far.

I don't think you touch on it as much, so how does Riven support play out in lane? I'm guessing the idea is to pop into and out of quick trades when possible, block skill shots aimed at her partner with shields, and to stun or hassle when all-in attempts are made on that partner. If so, that's not too different from classic tank supports.

Other thoughts:

• Are there any partners who make an especially good (or bad) combo with Riven? I imagine she'd prefer somebody with range, self-peel, or some CC to stack with hers.
• Do you use Riven as a niche pick against teams low on reliable CC or is she flexible enough to lock early?
• In the same vein as Leona, can Wings be used as an attack reset for killing stealth wards before they go invisible? I haven't had a reason to wonder this before.
• I'm curious how her mobility affects wards and ganks. I enjoy playing slippery supports like the troll king or Lulu. How does Riven compare at roaming between lanes, ditching duelists in the jungle, and setting up kills with her CC?

These are just things that occurred to me while going through, so take 'em or leave 'em. Cheers.

Latest Legend, personally I don't believe she's a counter. Her silence is 24 seconds long level 1, 16 level 5. You can often times engage on the enemy bot lane but save one dash so you can walk out of the silence and dash back to wait for your cooldowns. Engaging again within a short time afterwards usually results in a favorable trade for you because she won't be able to stop you with her silence since it's still on cooldown.

Relax, I only do so when I'm dead as the game is ending. Sorry that buying tears at the last 10 seconds of the game completely ruins the reputation for Riven mains.

EDIT: Looking for some serious thoughts about the viability of this. Her base damage is okay I guess and her peel with W is also not horrible. Option against comps with little gap closers and a weak early game bot lane?

EDIT2: Isn't Soraka a pretty good counter against this? Her silence makes you basically useless during an all-in I think.

I actually cannot believe someone actually took the time to make such a troll guide, this author also shows an extreme lack of maturity in the part where he shows his match history. Who wouldn't love a teammate who buys 6 Tears of the goddess? Thank you "Break the meta" for giving actually nice Riven mains a terrible reputation.
