The thing with Aery is that it procs with autoattacks. My playstyle does not operate with autoattacks alone, I usually use an ability and then autoattack, which somewhat reduces the usefulness of Aery. I think I missed out on a lot of damage because of this fact, and my laners managed to run away on low health. Autoattacks also proc Electrocute, that is why I think it is a better option, but let me know if you try it and have a different experience!
