Soraka works great as a mid for the reasons in this guide. She not only carries with damage output but will have greater AP for healing the team. Her starcall will destroy the entire enemy team's health and lower their magic resit far below zero. This guide is great.

Have grouped with Jae when she takes Soraka mid as well as when we have laned together and I have to say having her mid, especially with teleport provides more support than if she is laning with me. Not only can she wreck 90% of enemy champions in 1v1 (I cant count the number of times the enemy has switched out against her), but by soloing she reaches level 6 much earlier allowing her to globally heal the entire team just as the game begins to enter the critical midgame. Early game her heals are not mana efficient, it is much better to just play well and depend on pots and recalling to manage health and mana. Also the bonus to money she gets by staying mid allows her to stack AP items early resulting in a much more effective mid to late game healer (LOVE getting 1k heals late game). Many times we have entered a game and gotten flack when she asks to go mid, but by the end of the game the person(s) who were complaining are complimenting her and now want to group again. While I understand that people don't think of Soraka as a carry, in effect she becomes a carry by going mid and making the entire team that much more effective.

I appreciate the feedback, but I do hate the stereotypes people slide champs into. There are a lot of champs with hidden potentials you will never learn if you lump them into one category and then ignore anyone who indicates they can be played differently. Most teams I play on as Soraka tell me I carried them, because I did. Just because Soraka doesn't have the "carry" flag listed on her info page in LoL doesn't mean she isn't one, or can't be played as one (if you read on the LoL website they even say they don't list all the categories a champ fits into o that page because there wouldn't be enough room).

Also, since I like to grab opinions and use them to help me learn, if you don't like something about the build (aside from OMG SHE IS NOT A CARRY!) please do what Eve did earlier and offer a constructive suggestion - though I wish Eve had been more specific with exactly what types of auras she'd like to see brought by Soraka.

Irelia belongs in a duo lane supporting her teammates. Don't like your item choices either. If you want a carry go play corki/ashe/sivir/tristana whatever.

I won't downvote, but she can be more helpful with some auras and some AP, not just AP.
